Jones faced stronger competition and better defenses. What was Jones’ stats and record during the soft part of the schedule? Zappe has faced the Packers, Lions, and Browns defenses. The Lions and Browns defenses are two of the worst in the league. The Packers’ defense isn’t worlds better.
Jones faced some good defenses in the Bucs, Saints, and Cowboys.
I get it man, unless Zappe faces the EXACT same circumstances that Mac faced: opponents, coaches, players, etc. you will always have an excuse to hide under. You win. I'm out.
God no it wasn’t. In his first two weeks, he only had five pass plays over 20 yards. Not close to amount Jones had. Jones had four plays to just Parker over 20 yards in the Ravens game.
Another way they have been using Zappe which they refuse to do with Jones is play action. Although Jones is a great play action QB, they only allow him to drop back in it about 10% of the time while in the first two weeks Zappe did it over 37% of the time and a ton today too.
Evan Lazar broke down the differences between how they have used both earlier this week.
If his breakdown was earlier this week, then it was incomplete. The way they had him play this week was not the same as the way they had him play last week. The training wheels were much more off today.

Until Zappe faces a good defense, you can’t compare the two situation. Zappe vs the Jets ( who have played some good defense as of late) and play great. But until he does, it not the same thing as the defenses Mac Jones faced.
Again, I think Zappe took a big step today, but he faced a crappy defense. The Browns let Joe Friggin Flacco throw for 307 yards and four TDs.
I don't understand why y'all are arguing about who's the qb.
I'm good with whoever BB sends out there.
Y'all are getting uptight about a good situation. Would you prefer if Zappe was sucking instead?
This allows BB to wait until Mac is absolutely 100% before he starts again.
Or if Zappe keeps getting better, maybe not.
I kinda doubt it though. Mac will likely start again when he's ready. I like Mac.
But if BB decides to stick with Zappe,I'm good with that too. I'm good either way.
I don't get all the fuss.

I can't recall if he lost the Saints game, but he lost the other two. Cowboys game was where BB decided to kneel out with 1:50 on the clock before half-time.

But the defense lost the game vs the Cowboys. And the Pats could have beat the Bucs, but Folk missed a long field goal to go ahead at the end of the game.
The Saints game everyone played bad from Jones to the defense.

Exactly. BB is watching these guys everyday and will make the right call. Right now just enjoying the fact that we have 2 QB's I feel confident can go out there and get wins for us.

My stance is and will be through all of this is as long as one of the two becomes a solid to great NFL starter, I am good with whichever one it is. I am just not convinced based on today it is Zappe.
I‘m with you. I suspect that Belichick will go back to Jones. But I am good if Zappe continues to play like today or gets better and Belichick keeps him in.
Before the long Folk FG, it basically ended with a batted pass on 3rd down intended for a WIDE open (who else?) Meyers who could've gotten a lot of YAC on that one. Sigh.
I was a pretty big Mac Jones Is a Franchise Guy skeptic here during the offseason after how last season ended. But I think it’s kind of sad how fast so many Patriots fans seemed to have turned on him because a new shiny object caught their attention. Especially when most people here were really hyping Mac up just months ago.
Jones won a National Championship with Alabama (unbeaten season). Zappe played for Houston Baptist and Western Kentucky. On paper Jones should be a level above BUT on grass (or field turf) they seem much closer than you would expect. There have been QBs from small schools do well in the NFL but a late pick and a small school is probably less common. A great pick, no matter how it plays out.
I believe that Zappe may have actually started more games than Mac. Mac may ultimately be the better QB but Zappe is real impressive and unlike Mac this year Zappe has not made foolish throws. Certainly a nice problem to have two QB's with potential.
Some people twisting themselves in knots making excuses for Mac. Gymnast like flexibility going on here.
Usually, when an OL magically starts playing better with another QB, it's not as simplistic as the OL is just magically playing better. Zappe made movements in the pocket and escaped pressure today in ways I haven't seen from Mac. Had those handful of plays turned into sacks, we might be here complaining about the OL causing drives to stall. Had Mac been playing, I believe those handful of plays may be sacks or worse. It's what my eyes have seen so far.
But please continue with the contortionist gymnast thing. That kind of flexibility is sexy as hell!

Huge Mac Jones fan here. I haven't turned on anyone and I don't care who our starting QB is as long as they give us the best chance to win. Right now I think that's Zappe.

Mac started 18 games at Alabama. Zappe started 14 his senior year. Before that college football reference doesn’t even list it because it was some D2 school.
