I didn’t see this earlier, I found these answers from Bill interesting (from Kyed):

I think it's more about BB playing his usual information games with the opposition. Her doesn't want anyone tp know what he's thinking.

maybe, but he needed a QB, really had no choice but to draft 1 of the top 5
I think they had Mills and Jones rated similarly so they were willing to take Mills later if they lost Jones.

I bet if I scrolled down to the tweets he was making last November it would be the same thing word for word but about Mac.
Hell yeah I would hope so. Mac was very good most of the season. Mac proved he was better then the other QB's on the team at the time (including camp with Cam).

Here's where I stand right now. I don't think you could ask for anything more out of Zappe so far and he's done more with each week. I'm now excited about Zappe.

That doesn't mean I'm done with Mac he's shown a lot in his young career and other than a few turnovers earlier this year there us not a lot to complain about with him either.

Neither is close to a finished product but right now Mac is still further along. That can be looked at two ways. He's further along and more ready to run more of the offense. But that also means that Zappe has even more potential to grow as he closes that knowledge gap.

I dont pretend to be able to split that hair so for now I just lean towards putting Mac back in when he's healthy because once you leave him on the bench it will be harder to go back to him then if you sit the rookie for the healthy incumbent. But that's lazy analysis Bill will obviously have to make that call with a real decision on who he thinks is best.

Huge Mac Jones fan here. I haven't turned on anyone and I don't care who our starting QB is as long as they give us the best chance to win. Right now I think that's Zappe.
I do think Jones had been playing injured since preseason, but I believe they need to stay with Zappe until they know what they have with him. Amusingly, both Jones (accuracy) and Zappe (TD's, yardage) set NCAA records so there's a lot of upside in the QB room (while Hoyer is out). They need to see if Zappe continues to improve before going to Jones -- who could use the time to recover and reflect.

Speaking of making sense, let me get this straight. Zappe becomes the first QB in the modern era to have 100+ QBR in his first two starts (technically, in his first three games). Yet, you're stating that Mac is better than Zappe at the "Zappe offense"?
Passer Rating not QBR.

And he unequivocally said Cam was the starter when asked, week-after-week, when he was playing atrociously, despite having Stidham and Hoyer behind him.

People are claiming BB would never commit to a player/name them the starter, but that’s demonstrably false.

When he was asked who the starter will be and said something along the lines of “I don’t do hypotheticals, we’ll see when we get to that point”, I took him to mean just that.
Cam was better than both of them... as hard to believe as that is.

One thing I noticed this year is Mac seemed to have a lack of confidence. Zappe plays with great confidence. I still think Mac is the better QB, but man, Zappe seems more comfortable and confident in this offense. I still love Mac, but he has a lot to prove when he comes back. If Zappe plays vs Chicago and does well, he’ll probably be 3-1 in his 4 starts. Mac comes back as the starter, but he’ll have a short leash.

There are no easy games after Chicago. Arizona and Vegas probably being the easiest left after Chicago. So 8 of the 11 games left, the teams are .500 or better. Scary schedule.

Only a Homer would say Mac is better right now. Zappe's ball distribution and Pocket presence says it all.
Not a homer issue but it seems a lot of fans believe in Mac and I don’t know why specifically. They are very sure that he is more talented, can come back from being behind etc. and there really is not much evidence to support these beliefs. May the better QB win.
One funny knock I heard today was that Zappe was only throwing to guys that were wide wide open. Why is that a bad thing or a knock? Is that not what we want?

Zappe will have started only 3 games not 4.

If Mac is healthy enough to play against the Bears...that would be a good test to compare each other against bad teams and call the same plays Zappe had. But I don't want to go away from the hot hand for an experiment. IMO they should stick with Zappe until he hits his ceiling this season. We’ll know his ceiling when we see it.

I don’t think it’s a knock or a bad thing, it’s just saying the opposing defenses are not very good.

I stand corrected. But he will be the QB of record in all 4 games. Didn’t Hoyer only play 2 series before he got hurt ?

Mac should start when he is healthy. Zappe has exceeded expectations but it is only 2 games. Mac did it over a full season. However, Mac should know and I'm sure he does that if he does not take care of the ball, minimize turnovers and stay calm and poised in the pocket, BB can and will replace him with Zappe.
If Mac has the character that all the pundits say he does, Zappe will push him to better performance. If his performance is inconsistent or the turnovers continue, at that point Zappe will get another chance.

He didn't start at GB, he'd be 3-0.

One thing I will say that Zappe has had in his favor, better Oline play. They’ve each been sacked 5 times, but I think the addition of Cannon has really solidified the line, and Strange is already a better Olinemen than his first few games. I felt like Mac had to run for his life more than Zappe had to.

But like I said prior, Mac seemed to have lost a lot of confidence in himself. I hated his body language, he seemed to be hanging his head a lot. Zappe seems to have a ton of confidence, almost ****y. I loved Zappe’s TD pass to Thornton, just a veteran QB type of play, and love that he spreads the ball around. Mac needs to do that better.

I am still not convinced Zappe is the starter when Jones comes back. He is making a good case for himself, but it was still the Browns. And next week is a bad Bears team.

I think the play calling has been far better in the last few weeks than it was early in the season. Patricia finally remembered the Patriots have TEs. I am not sure if Jones wouldn’t have played as well or better.

I‘m not married to either QB and want the one who is most likely to be the franchise QB of the future. I still think it is Jones, but Zappe is winning me over.
I think Mac and Zappe are both NFL starters. Many NFL teams would do good to have either one. I intended to say that last week but got distracted. Still a lot games ahead and Zappe has not been pressed very hard yet, but I like his chances. Kid has played a lot of FB so he has seen many situations and responded well. Let's hope it continues.
