Complete overreaction. There are a lot of good young players on this team.
Not good enough that a new coach and regime is going to find them as must haves in this system instead of getting their own guys. There's a handful of a solid guys on defense. But on offense I can't think of anybody that we shouldn't be trying to upgrade. Even Hunter Henry who imo is the only guy I kinda like, has proven to not be a preemium TE. He's just a solid hand.

If I'm a new coach, everyone but Gonzalez is expendable

It'll be more than that, it'll cost a future 1st at least. But who knows how the actual draft placements ultimately shake out.
It might not cost a future first, but it will be something more subsantial than a second or third. The Jets and the Colts trade years back was multiple seconds.

Draft order updated after the early slate of Sunday afternoon games:

  1. Arizona Cardinals
  2. Chicago Bears (via Carolina Panthers)
  3. Chicago Bears
  4. New England Patriots
  5. New York Giants
  6. Los Angeles Rams
  7. Green Bay Packers
  8. Indianapolis Colts
  9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  10. Las Vegas Raiders
  11. Denver Broncos
  12. Tennessee Titans
  13. Los Angeles Chargers
  14. Atlanta Falcons
  15. Washington Commanders
  16. Arizona Cardinals (via Houston Texans)
  17. New York Jets
  18. Cincinnati Bengals
  19. New Orleans Saints
  20. Minnesota Vikings
  21. Seattle Seahawks
  22. Pittsburgh Steelers
  23. Houston Texans (via Cleveland Browns)
  24. Buffalo Bills
  25. San Francisco 49ers
  26. Miami Dolphins
  27. Dallas Cowboys
  28. Jacksonville Jaguars
  29. Detroit Lions
  30. Baltimore Ravens
  31. Kansas City Chiefs
  32. Philadelphia Eagles

It is crazy that the Bears still have the second and third pick. They can draft Maye and Harrison and potentially have an elite QB/WR for the next 10-15 years. Although, I think they will trade down with one of those picks. I think I would. They could turn one of those firsts into three firsts and potentially get for Pro Bowl/All Pro players with those two first rounders they have this year.

BB: We picked a guard with the #1 overall pick in the draft because we felt it gave us the best chance to win.
Press: But why did you pass on the top 2 franchise QB prospects available?
BB: We picked the player we felt gave us the best chance to win.
I don't have a problem picking going oline over QB. Remember mac was coming off a good rookie season.

How much do you think having matt patricia for your first professional NFL OLine coach might have ****ed up strange?
how much do you think it ****ed up macs development?

I think Mac is probably ruined by the choices bill made, I think with the right coaching that picked up where Mcdaniels left off, Mac would be a top half of the league Quarterback, which is good enough for a team with this defense to be competitive.

Unfortunately bill has Blundered everything that came after.

Drafting Strange instead of someone more established
Hired Patricia and Judge
Made Patricia Oline coach and Ocoordinator(Zero experience)
Made Judge QB coach(zero experience)
Made Cheap offers to every potential WR improvement
Swapped Jacoby Meyers for JuJu Drop Schuster
EXTENDED DEVANTE PARKER who since coming to teh patriots as an "80/20" ball guy, Plays smaller then Edlemen despite being much larger.
He's made no effort to bring in actual talent, and instead is just hoping he can coach up Jags, and hes failing SO ****ing miserably that he's tarnishing his reputation./

The Bears are gonna be sitting pretty. 2nd and 3rd pick plus whatever they get back from trading Justin Fields away? Imagine if they let a different QB-needy team trade up to 3 behind them, they'll get a haul for that too. Plus #1 in cap space I believe.
IF it wins them a couple of super bowls I agree… if not .. what good did all that capital gain them? I’m gonna bet dollars to donuts they blow the whole thing …

He may have also looked at this year as an evaluation year. If you follow this same line of thinking then he's basically being forced to keep evaluating a guy he doesn't really like, so why spend a bunch to help him out - spend conservatively and see what you learn. If he can play decently with a modest cast then you will have lots of cash in 2024 to boost him up, knowing confidently he's your guy. But you already think he's probably not the guy, so if you're proven correct, then even more reason to conserve for 2024 and onward when you need to go in another direction.
To add to the tin foil - probably may explain why they took away his Beankie, too.

I'm ready for a change but he's not an overrated clown, that's disrespectful to what he's accomplished.
Whats his record without Brady? - you might be shocked at how mediocre it is ..... thus Overrated is in play - his overall record against teams with a winning record without the G.O.A.T. is not even close to .500 - He has not proven he can take ANY team deep into the playoffs if at all unless he hits the jackpot on a QB who carries the team along with some Defense of course

Belichick believers really should check his lifetime HC stats sans Brady - its not pretty - He is/was and will forever be a above average defensive coach who hit the jackpot in 2000 and that put him up on Lombardi level as the wins mounted - stats don't lie

There are some players I like. Barmore is playing really well in recent weeks. Bentley is good. Peppers and Tavai have been good. The last three are not going to stars, but are good players to build around. Obvious Dugger is good, but he is a free agent. Judon is expendable because of his age, but since this team needs leaders, not really.

Yeah, possibly. It at least adds to the "evaluation" piece.

Yes there are many combinations you can use with 2 top picks. Different positions. Trades. Endless possibilities. Thanks.

The good news is that there is zero chance Kraft can get away with another off-season of not improving the team.

They literally went into this season without addressing their WR issue. No way they do that again.

remember how bad they were in pre season and some of us were concerned and voicing our opinion only to be called Jet fans? well, looks like we were right, doesn't it? in fact, how a team plays in August really DOES matter.

Mac sucks and always has.

That time of the month? I feel for you. My girlfriend gets really cranky too. I hope you got a lot of Midol.

Seriously, you really should seek help for the fact that I get so under your skin. It isn't healthy. You will have a heart attack.

Mac was given a mulligan last year because of the dissaray of the coaching staff for the offense - it was not supposed to be this bad again with changes - Mac is what he is,a backup 3rd depth QB if anything - Mac will end up as a career Journeyman QB who will go from team to team like Testeverde or Fitzpatrick, the signs are all there.

What do you imagine they'll do?

Again, tell us what you would've done.

The coaching tree argument is dumb, are they supposed to get some kind of knowledge by osmosis from working with him, if they suck it's on them, not on Bill.
Great leaders elevate their subordinates and make them better. That’s leadership 101. The gap between Bill’s tree and his peers is hard to miss. I would think the greatest coach of all time ought to make his fellow coaches better but for whatever reason they’ve become clones instead.

They got the WR1 from the SB champs. I disliked the move, but they literally addressed their WR issue.
