And that Hightower supposedly has an MCL sprain and could miss 2-3 weeks, along with Amendola's concussion.

Also WR Malcolm Mitchell was placed on IR prior to the game.

So really everything that could've gone wrong tonight really did... Malcom Mitch is a huge loss..

If they are 10-6, seeding won't matter. They will be bounced in the first round. They need to square their **** away by next weekend. Period.
I don't know. Hard to say. They'd still host a playoff game, possibly two, with the 3rd seed. They could certainly win a game or two. It wouldn't necessarily be the end of the world.

They allowed 6 touchdowns....and didn't even turn the ball over once. That pretty much says it all. There were some long methodical drives of 90+ and a few quick strike, big play drives.

But the injuries are what concerns me the most. Losing Ninkovich, Rivers (first selection '17), Jones (first selection '16), Edelman, Mitchell, Garcia, etc are huge losses--and there's also guys like Amendola, HT, Slater, Ebner, etc who are hurt but are expected to return at some point in the next couple/few games.

Then again...this look isn't what a) teammates probably want to see and b) what opponents want to see.

At 0-3 and if he plays like tonight...Jimmy G is the QB. And it would be the end of TB12 here in NE.

That's not a comfortable thought.

It is what it is.

But if anyone thinks Jimmy G could overcome this team's defensive performance they are delusional. I highly doubt that.

You can't give up 40+ and expect your offense to save you especially with the injuries this offense has endured.

Brady and crew put up 27. That should have been enough. They could have put up more except for other reasons. The offense is not my concern because I think they'll figure it out quickly but the defense needs some serious work. imo

Bring on the "Brady is on a cliff" it's only going to do one thing and that's fire him up to do what he does best.

Biggest issues for me are:

1. How long it takes to adjust on offense. Brady is a creature of habit now. He likes his safety blankets. His top 3 wide receivers are now guys who are better vertically than horizontally, while he is a QB who is better throwing horizontally than vertically. We need to adjust, and quick, because NO are gonna put up some points next week and then the Texans come to town who are going to have a similar game plan to the Chiefs along with a ferocious pass rush. I don't think it will happen, but it's not completely outside the realms of possibility that there is a 0-3 start here.

2. Depth on D, in particular in the front seven. We currently have a number of potential has beens and some not yet made it players on D. I think a few of the problems tonight were scheme choices which are correctable but it's worrying that in week 1 we were forced to play a bad safety at LB, a guy who only arrived 5 days ago, a rookie at DE etc. One or two more injuries could ruin this D. I think Hightower (if healthy) has to go back to the middle. The defense runs through him.

Wow...the stupidity you say? You sound like a child whining about penalties that "should have been" how bout the team plays to the level they should play?
That's typical though...the spoiled fan base that has become an embarrassment to the team.

You are just embarrassing yourself while lamenting about things that actually happened.

Wasn't just that. He looked scared at times and did miss some passes that might of been the difference. Not to mention he got a penalty that potentially cost us a TD.

What the hell are you talking about ? That was on a third down. Even if he doesnt throw the ball the play is already over. Brady will not make 2-3 defenders miss no his high speed run to the endzone. White only was that open after Brady stepped over the LoS and you cant seriously prefer him to stop running at the LoS not knowing whats happening behind him and risk another turnover instead of at least a FG.

Well his OC didn't help much with some running plays in the red zone.

It is funny how nobody complains about runs when the team executes their blocks properly and Gillislee gets in for short yardage TDs but if something fails it is automatically a bad playcall and not an execution problem. By that logic every dropped pass would also be a bad playcall - which is insane.

Cooks was wide open all night, and drew quite a few DPI flags

Looking forward to you putting as much effort into making your point as @Tony2046 has been doing and actually posting a few screenshots of Cooks being wide open all night at the same time when Brady was set to make a throw. Until then stop claiming things because it didnt look like Cooks was often in single coverage.

The QB3 trade to the Colts will start paying dividends next week. In the meantime, BB needs to figure out who can win in the slot/quick route areas, and he may have to look to RB for that answer.

You are more optimistic than I am about how much time Dorsett will need. Fingers crossed.

Red Sox probably happy they don't have to hear about Apple watches for the next few days.

If Cooks was Moss 2.0, he'd still be in New Orleans.

If Moss was Moss 2.0, “he'd still be in New Orleans“ as well. Some circumstances are different of course but some are quite similar. Lets give Cooks (and Brady and McD) some time. The way WR story is going for the moment, hopefully Cooks can step up in that conversation on the field as well..

BTW, for as bad as this team looked, this game basically turned on 2 plays that probably resulted in two 14 point swings.

Convert on 4th
Chung catches the pick

and this is a blow out in the other direction

True. But take away some of the KC penalties that way and this thread completely blows out..

I didn't expect to watch a NE team that was so little prepared. The offense line was terrible. Brady was not himself, could be age too soon to tell. Defense was weak. Overall a poorly prepared and poorly coached team and question mark about offense.

This game reminded me of the playoff game against Baltimore after we lost Welker. Was it 2009? The offense really missed Edelman just like it missed Welker and the defense couldn't stop the run. The team seemed out of sync and somewhat lifeless. Hopefully, they can pull it together in the next 10 days.
