The point I am making, is the offence only showed up in the 2nd half. When you don't cross mid-field until the last play of the 3rd quarter, you can't expect to win too many games.
I remember a Pats regular season game from 1985 when they only reached midfield once the entire game and that was on a Craig James 75 yard TD run. The Pats ended up meeting that team in the SB that year and were the only team to score a point against them in the playoffs. That was the 85 Bears.
He had a different QB (Fitz, Hoyer, Osweiler & Savage) for 4 consecutive seasons until he got a rookie Deshaun Watson in 2017; who subsequently tore his ACL during a practice that same season…
Man I hope so… We will all hear about this play for years to come as one of the dumbest plays of all time… Butt fumble… Carolina fake punt… Embarrassing
This team, as bad as it is, with even a slightly more competent offense would be 9-6. To throw away a whole season on a ******** experiment to see if your mate can be an OC is not ok.

Belichick is wrong for sticking with an exposed, ceiling-splattered 2nd year first round pick over a highly impressive lower drafted rookie, But Berry was wronger to keep playing his overpaid first rounder (albeit he could throw, like Drew) over the single reason the team was competitive at all that year, a fifth round pick without a stolen Super Bowl ring.
The Belichick lovers will refuse to acknowledge that Belichick without Brady in terms of his entire coaching career against teams.500 or above has something like a 35% win ratio which is well below your average coach considered elite....Brady has proven he can win without Bill...Bill is getting exposed for what we now see and his loyalty to horrible coaches cause they are 'his buddies' is destroying this team.....never thought I'd say this so quickly but if this team is ever going to get back to being a top 10 team it has to go down sharply before it goes back up and that means bye bye to this coaching staff starting at the top..hoping Kraft sees the light and begins the rebuild sooner than later as we are currently on a downward spiral back to 1990 if Belichick remains in charge of this sinking ship ....
I'm torn these days. I desperately want the team to win but i feel if we do it will paper over the cracks and make positive change less likely. I don't think this team is as far away as it looks. This year has been an uttter **** show in many ways but with even just an average offense we would be in the playoffs. On offense i think Rham and Strong next year with K Harris backing up would be decent and let Harris go. If we can keep Bourne and Meyers then the addition of a true No1 would elevate the WR group completely. Draft an OT and if we can find one in FA and the line would be much better. I would like to see Mac in a functioning offense to evaluate him properly. I'm not sure he is the answer and his antics do my head in but unless we bring in an experienced QB i don't think we are finding his replacement in this years draft so he might be our best option next year and we hope for a Tua like transformation. I'm off to wrap my pressies and eat my body weight in food. Marry Xmas all
This year has proved that Brady can't win without decent coaching. And if you remove a hall of fame QB from lots of elite coaches win records many will look a lot worse. With even a slightly below average offense this team would be possibly 9-6 or maybe even 10-5. What BB did with the offense this year is borderline unforgivable but he is a good coach but he does need to be held accountable for a lost year.
Brady won a SB in 2020 and went late into the playoffs in 2021 with the same coaches. Most fans here knocked those coaches until Brady took them to a SB win. They were considered the Moe, Larry and Curley of the NYFL before that.
What this year has proved beyond a reasonable doubt is that letting Brady go was a colossal blunder.
So we want to chalk this up as another 'moral victory'? That's just fools gold.
Reality check: The Patriots are 1-4 in their last 5 games.
26-33 loss to Vikings
10-24 loss to Bills
27-13 win over Cardinals
24-30 loss to Raiders
18-22 loss to Bengals.
It doesn't matter that 3 of our losses are 1 score games. They show the quality of this team. This team isn't making the playoffs and they've done nothing to make me think they belong there.
The Patriots are now 7-8. Two big Division games loom, and I don't see how we win them.
Next up Miami Dolphins at home.
To close the season Buffalo Bills at Buffalo.
I can't see us winning a game the rest of the season. That will end us on a 1-6 to close out the season. Where are these improvements?
We're using the same losing formula and getting the same results - LOSSES.
It's the definition of insanity to repeat the same things with the same players and same coaches and expect any different results.
Changes need to be made in the offseason at the very least.
I'd like to see changes made now, but we all know BB is too set in his ways to do any such thing in the middle of the season. Try to ask a question about why our offense keeps coming up short and he'll reply the same, "Our offense is fine. Our coaches are great. We just need to execute better." Dead stare. Same old Bill, same old results.
BB has refused to use all available options at QB to win and put the team before any one player. A great 2022 defense and running game has been wasted.
The way that contract was structured is offensive to me. Knowing that they were going to lose him to a suspension they put 229 of the 230 mil after the first year. That had to be done with the blessing of Goody & the 32.
I was originally a Browns fan before the Pats were born and have rooted for them over the years. Not any more. Not enough bad things can happen to them to suit me now.
Maybe. Maybe not. Remember that Patricia was the DC for years against that Offense. So Patricia has to understand how to plan against it.
I'm not saying Patricia doesn't have blame. He does. People saying that Mac doesn't have issues are ignoring the things Mac is doing that have nothing to do with Patricia.
Clearly Jones play has been affected by the inconsistent play of the O-line. But the not recognizing the defense or calling out shifts when he should be looking right at a Safety that moved up to the line outside your TE and calling for a shift in the blocking. That's on Jones. He's been hit how many times off that left side by blitzers that he failed to recognize?
I'm not saying that Jones sucks. I'm saying that he has his own issues that aren't related to Patricia. They are likely related to Judge. I've already acknowledged that I believe that Judge was the issue with Daniel Jones so is likely not helping Mac Jones and should be replaced.
I don't understand why people have an issue with acknowledging that the problems extend to more than just the coaching.
I acknowledge that there issues with Mac. But there are issues with every young QB, including Burrow and Allen. Mac isn’t getting help cleaning up those issues; that’s what coaches are for.
I agree that Judge probably hasn’t helped here. He was terrible with the Giants. But Patricia is not just a play caller, where he might barely be tolerable. As you said, the OL is inconsistent and that includes technique. That’s on MP; he’s the OL coach. Patricia changed blocking schemes and the playbook to dumb it down “for the players” and we see more mistakes than ever: dysfunctional routes, penalties, poor timing, etc. His changes seem like they were added to put his stamp on the offense (and to distinguish himself from Josh) and not to make it better. By dumbing it down, it’s become easier to defend.
Putting Bourne in the nearly permanent doghouse has been an unmitigated disaster; his absence might even have cost the Pats a win or two. Instead we see not ready for prime time Thornton. Screwing with Mac like he’s some dope has been a travesty. No fullback, tight ends who barely get involved in the Matty P “offense,” no cohesion or coherence. Matt Patricia is just one big unlikeable cluster*&$#. He’s the primary reason the offense has declined this year and every fan watching the game has been robbed of his or her viewing pleasure by that guy.
The Pats were two lucky plays away from getting humiliated! The offense is a joke. Mac Jones does not have a clutch bone in his body.
Time after time, he is presented with an opportunity to lead a game winning drive, and he has NEVER done it! Two years, zero game winning drives!
Before you blame the play calling, you have to realize that the QB has the ability to read the defenses and adjust protection and plays. Mac seems to be making adjustments all the time, they just don't seem to work.
Still the Pats should have won that game. I think the play calling at the end was more about making sure that they didn't leave any time left on the clock, than picking the right play.
Much like my MIL getting drunk and passing out in my bathroom, it has become a yearly tradition to watch this team melt down at the end of the season.
He didn't change out of the dive up the middle into a stacked box! If no one fears your QB, they are going to stack the box and make the QB beat you. He doesn't throw it quick, he doesn't run.
