Right, but in order to free up Cap space ect, a player would need to be added.. and we aren't just going to give up draft picks we all know how highly BB thinks of those 6th round picks , the LB experiment seems to be failing..
I thought for sure of the surplus of safeties we'd be able to continue fileds.. the one guy that's been a force all season is judon.. I just hope if we continue to loose he doesn't check out..
McMilan played 11 snaps but was invisible. When we don't have Barmore and or Dugger on the field, it's a totally different defense and not for the better. Just unacceptable.
Pains me to write this but the Jets HC Salah is doing a better job this season than Bill. No reason we shouldn’t be following the same blueprint of being a run heavy team minimizing the turnovers playing strong defense.

That works for us, sure. But for them? If burns was offered up I'm pretty sure they could find a trading partner... Ah well, nice to theorize about what won't happen...
I dunno if this was directed at me but I don't have a firm read on what to do about Mac... Unless that ankle developed a case of Foxboro flu last night you could try that... But the way Mac pushed to get back on the field, I'd think you'd have a real hard time convincing him to go along with that plan... Like NFLPA complaint hard time... Which would fracture any type of relationship the team has with him... The IR ship has sailed at this point
No just a basic thought on the situation that's all.. a player can be IRd with a designation to return at any point in the season including playoffs,
The relationship according to multiple reports is already slightly fractured, any way we look at it.. feels like we will be back in the draft seeking another franchise qb, yes mac/zappe made some miscues however I put this game on the D everyone aside from red sleeves! No barmore was huge! No Dugger was huge, however we still had enough to stop the 30th ranked offense.
Now we see a talented, hungry, jets team. Defense will bounce back I feel. However not naming a qb is doing serious harm to the locker room No matter how great BB is..

Well it could happen, it feels like the obvious pressing needs BB sometimes doesn't fulfill, Bently, Mac Wilson, those guys are supposed to be great run staffers, hard to understand you allow a team to come on your field and convert 3rd down over and over and over..
Uche out too. Did not have the depth on defense to play at a high level.Time to fix the plane while flying it on D. When their D was on the field, have to hand it to Justin Jones, he ran his mouth but he backed it up.
Agreed. Who ever ends up as the starter needs the first team reps... The team needs a direction... No half ass dog and pony show splitting reps between the two... BB is paid a lot of money to make decisions... Well for better or worse, he needs to decide.
People overrate what Zappe did the first three games. He didn't do much of anything in his first game. He threw 15 times for 99 yards and a TD even though playing most of game. He wasn't asked to do that much more against Detroit (the Pats passed 21 times and ran 35 times in that game) and did well. Only the Browns game was only game where he was really impressive.

True, but we didn't give Jones much to defend on offense, questionable play calling, going away from the run, again not trying to involve the TEs more.. HH is a 6'6 TE look at the 3rd down play komet caught on the bears.. that is HH game! But agreed the depth on defense was apparent.. still had enough to contain that offense.. competition gets harder, don't know about you but, Cincinnati to me is the most dangerous offense in the league.. Buffalo beats you with 2 guys mainly..

Like I said, my pick is on Zappe because if Zappe sucks in the future you can easily go back to Mac without damaging his confidence further. If you go with Mac you basically have to ride it until the end of the season with him. for better or worse because if he sucks again and you bench him a second time, it’s hard to justify to continue naming him the starter.

Absolutely! I feel like something is going to happen with Mac, well probably see him get IRd citing the ankle, we'll get to see a longer sample of zappe, and then at seasons end can make a better decision on qb, I feel like BB makes decisions, based on his feelings and intuition.. we also have to wonder who on his staff other than Troy brown or mayo are going to say hey bill this *** ain't working here.. I've said it before.. playing 2qbs is what bad teams do! We used to laugh at those teams!
Going into the game I had expressed the thought that given his performance this year, Mac ought to have been on a short leash for this game, but even so THAT vaudeville-style hook seemed a little quick: looked almost punitive, painful to see. That said, I think we DO need a legit competition for qb. We need to find out what Zappe's upside limitations really are, and we need to find out whether Mac is tough enough to handle the job. Let competition thrive, as they say. [The original phrase, Shakespeare's, was, "Let copulation thrive." Oh, dear.] To this point, INCLUDING last night, there is no question in my mind - even given Zappe's slide later in the game (attributable at least in part to playcalling) - that Zappe is winning that competition. I think that's undeniable, based on the sheer facts of the matter. It's Zappe vs. the Jets for me.

Putting Mac on the IR is a non-starter imo. Unless you want Garrett Gilbert as your back up to a rookie it makes no sense at all. I personally do not want Garrett Gilbert anywhere near the 53, if there are other options.
