Butler, Develin, and D. Andrews... Now you can argue why those guys didn't make a "big difference in wins and losses", but then it's just the definition game, which I have played a lot here and am starting to find tiresome. So if that's what you want to do, not interested. There's no doubt all three have been impact players.
Dave Andrews wasn't on the PS.

Malcolm Butler, Jon Jones both were, though.

Other than develin, were any difference makers?

YES:
Troy Brown, Malcolm Butler, Stephen Neal, Dan Connolly, Ryan Wendell, Tom Ashworth, Brandon Gorin, Russ Hochstein, Billy Yates, Jon Jones

The fact that you don't know this when it's been talked about regularly on this board is surprising.. Or maybe you're just choosing to willfully ignore the various players.

I do not subscribe to the Globe. Are you able to provide a summary of said article?? I am a Scott Peters fan so this is good to hear. OT I hope Scar is enjoying retirement, he deserves it.
Here are some snippets:
Dante Scarnecchia has faith.

The 76-year-old, who coached the Patriots’ offensive line for 19 seasons before retiring in 2020, believes they will be able to get their protection plan figured out sooner rather than later for a few reasons, not the least of which is the fact that he’s a fan of new position coach Scott Peters.

“I know Scott is working really hard to figure it out, and they are working hard to figure it out,” Scarnecchia said. “You see it every day; there are days where they see some light, and then, it gets dark again. But you’re always working to get the thing right.
Scarnecchia, who counts Peters as a friend, said there are a few remedies when it comes to tackle play.

“If you can reduce the number of problems — instead of two, you get it to one — it’s a lot easier. When it comes to the tackle position, if you can rely on one guy on one side, then you can help the other guy on the other side,” he said.

“We had to help out tackles all the time when I was there. Matt Light against Dwight Freeney. That was a great football player Matt was trying to block, and if we didn’t do something to help him, we were going to have a miserable day. Everybody has those issues. You have to do whatever you can to give guys help.

“You can slide the line, or have the back chip, or use a tight end. Just have a tight end there so the defense doesn’t have a free run at the quarterback.”
“They’re all working hard over there. I don’t need to be around there. I’m fine. I’m happy. I have wonderful grandkids here, and I have a wife who deserves to have a husband around full time after spending all that time as a coach.”

Here are some snippets:
I suspect that Scar is available for a ZOOM consult once in awhile.

If Scar has faith in the OL, I'm fine with that. We will have much improvement this year, and more next year when we add another couple of players.

With Lowe and Sow yet to return I am hoping we can get Okorafor-Robinson-andrews-Owenu-Wallace or and I like this better

Let's hope Lowe & Sow do return today.

But getting Onwenu back to RG seems the consensus best move.
They have a ton of Tackles now on the roster, off waivers, and on PS.
So, getting one of the best Guards in the NFL back to his best position seems like a no brainer.

I could see Leverett starting at LG for week 1 - if Sow is indeed out. Likely starting OL on Sunday:

Okorafor - Leverett - Andrews - Onwenu - Wallace (or Robinson - Onwenu)

New England was awarded offensive tackle Demontrey Jacobs, guard Zach Thomas, defensive tackle Eric Johnson II and linebacker Curtis Jacobs on waivers last week. The Patriots reportedly had "backup" claims on three other offensive linemen and one defensive lineman if their desired players weren't available. Jacobs and Johnson were also sought-after players.

According to ESPN's Mike Reis, the Arizona Cardinals attempted to put a claim on Jacobs and the Cincinnati Bengals put in a claim on Johnson. The Denver Broncos also wanted to sign Jacobs to their practice squad after they waived him.

Interesting to know they were at least somewhat sought after

Actually, you Don't want to see him starting at LG. Dude sucks.

Pray for Jacoby's health.

What the **** are 'backup claims"? Never heard of them.

A backup claim is a stipulation that if I do not get this then I want this. It's a way of trying to get all of your secondary claims if you do not get your primary claims.

I wonder then, is it also possible to be awarded a backup claim and thereupon rescind a previous, primary claim awarded you? If true, then our FO did us a Dis-service (again) by claiming so few players and NOT rescinding the Johnson & Thomas claims when others could've been awarded them... And I absolutely, positively Would Have claimed rookie DE KJ Henry; that's a free draft pick Wolfie!

Even with our problems there are still only so many roster spots available.

Its come down to “backup claims”?
