He is distinctively mediocre
Alex Smith is so vanilla.
No doubt he's vanilla, but he's effective. They dink and dunk with success. No one in the AFC has won more games as a starting QB in the past few years. Of course, the field is limited with injuries to Luck and Roethlisberger, as well as Manning retiring, but still...

that was obvious
I don't understand what was DPI about it. Butler did nothing except simply exist in a zone where the ball was thrown and the WR tried to go through him to get to the ball. How is that DPI? Is Butler required to move out of the way and allow the catch? I don't understand.
refs call it when the defensive back is not looking back for the ball..if he turned for the ball and his body did the exact same movements, the refs would not have thrown a flag. Physically, doesn't make sense, but that's the way it is I guess.

So basically our defense sucks as usual.
Have to say that precautionary wise ....we look shaky at best.....too early to say that they SUCK!

They gave up the least amount of points last year lol..
Such stupid clown posters here. They should be embarrassed to post here and breathe air.

Sorry to anyone who thought we were putting the game away but this shouldn't be a surprise. We've had flashes on both sides of the ball but everything is still clearly a work in progress.

Got some things to be optimistic about (OLine and the youngins Wise and Butler on the DLine for example) but a lot of cleaning up to do as expected. Hopefully we can start in the right direction in the 2nd half.

That's 2 90 yards drives by.....the Chiefs. If that isn't terrible than I don't know what is.

Bree's is probably licking his chops

Richards was too slow on that TD...Butler had to break off his coverage to try to tackle. I said it all offseason, you can't teach speed and Richards is turtle slow. KC will keep using these quick hits to the outside all night. Pats have to score to win this game....go no huddle and pedal to the metal.

I dont really understand the Pats offensive game plan....seems like more run than pass, Tom doesnt look sharp to me.

Its not only September, its Opening day! R-E-L-A-X And just thank god our D is out there against Alex Smith and not Aaron Rodgers or even Matty Ice.

A half of horrendous officiating to artificially keep the game close to keep the ratings up for the 2nd half.

Pats' play contributed more than a bit. The second half will be better.

I think he turned him with his left (?) arm - the back one - not a lot, but enough. I think that was the call - although hard for the ref to see.

He's looking like chocolate Caramel Pistachio double mocha latte so far tonight

Smith is being a game manager as expected and KC has taken everything they have gotten in terms of multiple key breaks from the refs.

Having said that, with a dink and dunk QB like Smith you need to pressure him into mistakes. Give him time, and he will take the safe high percentage play so as to not beat himself which is smart.

Also gotta adjust to those crossing routes we are getting abused on those.

Alex Smith 16/19 128 yards 2TDs

Just letting him throw short stuff all the way down the field

Which is a sound game plan. Not sure what your issue with that is. Dare him to throw in most cases to receivers not called Hill or Kelce or take the checkdown. Is there actually someone who seriously has an issue with the way they are approaching the KC O ?
