I'm sure the thought was there, but the plan was likely to evaluate Mac, otherwise he wouldn't have started him. Or let me rephrase that - otherwise, why start him at all? I'm sure the plan was to see how Jones played and then adjust/evaluate accordingly, not for Mac to make the decision this easy.I think the opposite - I am starting to believe Bill was planning to go back to Zappe.
He looked like this for the start of this season. No difference I can see.I don't think that would have been the case, and it's a little unfair. We've watched the kid for over a year. He's NEVER looked like this.
He kinda did the first few games this year. At this point the only questions are if he can be coached back from the mental hellhole he must be in. And if the opportunity to bounce back will come with this team or elsewhere.I don't think that would have been the case, and it's a little unfair. We've watched the kid for over a year. Unless Zappe falls apart, I think you witnessed the end of his tenure here tonight. He kinda did the first few games this year. Supposedly that was one reason they brought up Jamie Collins!?Someone gonna watch Fields?
I wonder if Bill was planning to swap at halftime depending on how things went. We saw the report from Schefter about "don't be surprised if both QBs play tonight"... Bill may have been looking to play and evaluate both QBs but Mac looked so poor that he pulled the plug on Mac's time much earlier than expected.I'm sure the thought was there, but the plan was likely to evaluate Mac, otherwise he wouldn't have started him.
