Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Definitely. Thanks to Bowles and Leftwhich. Licht should get some blame too, he hasn't been a good GM the last couple years.

First 3 game losing streak
First losing season
Most sacks all time
A one and done playoffs
What else am I missing?

Edit:
1st loss to Falcons
1st loss to Cowboys
FYI he lost 4 straight in 2002. That year kind of stands as his roughest, until this one.

I'm good. But I wonder what Ian will do with this sub forum now? I believe he said previously that he would shut it down after Brady retired. Ian should leave it up, you know, just in case...
It's over. The good news is all the Brady-haters (minus 1) will come back to the fold now that he's retired. I find it hilarious how many were triggered because Tom decided to continue his career (successfully) and not retire a Patriot after Bill dispatched him. They were convinced Bill got it right and he was done, only to see him win another SB with of all teams the Suckaneers. Can't make that **** up.

It's teed up for Brady now. Bad timing on his retirement announcement, pt. 2. Maybe he'll say oh wait just kidding (again).

Apparently he’s been telling close friends it was Tampa or retirement

He'll do them a solid and formally retire post June 1st. That'll save them $24M in dead cap hit which is almost 50% of this years cap hole.

Well that nullifies a lot of the speculating that was going on here. It was fun while it lasted.

Brady must really feel like he's absolutely sure this is it with the 49ers dangling right in front of him now. LVR would have been a good fit too (offensively). Not to be I suppose.

I'm a parent, they'll never be anything more important in your life than your kids, but Brady's kids are 15, 13 & 10 and their entire lives he's been a professional athlete. It's what they're all familiar with and it's afforded them many life advantages.

I really think Brady is retiring because he's coming off a disappointing season, and at age 46, he doesn't think he'll have the competitive drive to commit to the full process of being an NFL quarterback anymore. With his obsessive nature, he's at it year round, conditioning, rehab, film study, etc... it's part of what made him so great for so long. But being that way, it's exhausting, so he's trying to step out of it. Unfortunately for him, his nature being what it is, he'll probably obsess now about other things in his life.

Exactly, Brady isn't retiring because of the kids. Having kids around the same age and older, they have their own busy schedule and their peers are much more important at that age. They no longer need their parents hovering around all the time.

He’d do it for Miami or San Fran. He won’t for a team where it’s a project. I think it’s that simple.

I agree. If he has truly retired (still think he may come back) it is because he does not believe he can play at the same level and does not want to make the commitment anymore.

Which is truly a combination of the two. He can still play at a high level (just look at that week 17 clinic), but to continue to play at a high level, he first needs the commitment (to get all of the many things done to remain at a high level). He doesn't feel up to the commitment anymore, which probably has to do with 1) his age and 2) the disheartening season he just experienced.

In hindsight, and I was wrong on this point prior to the season, had Arians remained the head coach then I think the season would have gone better. Still not great but certainly better than 8-9 and probably at least 10-7. Arians clearly was a motivator and he had a close bond with many of his players.

Bowles is aloof and completely uninspiring... like he's nowhere near head coaching material in this area. Plus Arians is far more aggressive than the ultra conservative Bowles. Arians definitely would have seen the success of the no huddle offense and gone to it way more than Bowles, who treated the no huddle like break glass only in case of an emergency.

I was indifferent about Bowles prior to the season, I suppose I figured Brady would just tell him to **** off when it came to the offense, but this clearly wasn't the case. Bowles handcuffed the offense with his conservative approach and insistence on "establishing the run" and in the process turned a recent head coaching candidate Leftwich into a discarded derelict.

It's amazing to me that the Bucs are seemingly forging ahead with toilet bowles after this debacle of a season. He had the GOAT and a reasonably decent roster, certainly worthy of winning that division with ease and possibly making some noise in the playoffs, but instead bowles took a big nasty dump on the team.

Burt Breer just said pretty bluntly that the door was open to go to the 49ers on the TEAM end of things but Brady determined he couldn't do it because, reading between the lines based off what Breer then said, Giselle basically won't let him take the kids out to California for extended periods of time so he'll basically never get to see them. That's why when the Dolphins said they're going with Tua the situation really did come down to either Tampa or retirement because he had to stay local to see his kids. Which...that legitimately makes me angry. Like very angry. What a...not good woman I'll just say that.

And if you don't believe Albert Breer then that's your problem, he is a legit source that's actually reinforcing gossip that I've alluded to.

I'll say it. What a ****.

Yes, nothing should inspire anger more than a mom refusing to have her kids shuttled cross country back and forth through the school year so that 46 year old dad can squeeze out another season getting the sh*t kicked out of him. I mean, that’s not disruptive to their lives or anything.

Or, and hear me out, he can live with his kids in San Francisco while she’s off alone in Costa Rica on one of her excursions with her martial arts instructor? Just a thought.

I think Brady retired because he's trying to get back with his ex. Don't judge if you've never had Brazilian ****y.

I can't watch it either.... not because of the B.S. they spout, but because I can't understand a single word mush mouth says....
He needs tongue reduction surgery.

But her divorcing her husband while travelling with and banging the kids' karate instructor is a perfectly wholesome environment for the children.

That was the year that some of the mediots and opposing fans took as a sign that Brady was a one hit wonder. Woops!
