I'd look at it from an opposite direction, he looked at the situations that were being offered up to him, compared them to what he had for 20 years in NE and 3 in Tampa, and decided they just weren't good enough to provide the motivation he needed to get his 46 year old body through Season 24. I'll guess we'll never know, but the recent buzz is at least two teams were talking with him.I can definitely understand. I much rather he stayed retired then to comeback for this past meaningless dumpster fire of a season in Tampa. It's painful to see him walk away because I think he still had at the very least 2 more great seasons in him

I always had a hard time believing they were in. They had already bypassed him for the other mf'er 3 years ago. If they brought Brady in now the story would be that Shanny needed old man Brady to carry him over the hump, and the Shanahan Clan would not stand for that.I bet you anything the 49ers just made it clear that they’re out.
That's possible but it is really early in the process. The SB hasn't even played yet. I think he made an emotional decision just like last year. I think SB time is hard for him when he is not in the game. He will have offers in March. We'll see but I give it at least a 50/50 chance that he still plays.I bet you anything the 49ers just made it clear that they’re out.
He would never retire if he kept overperforming and having amazing seasons. He said he would retire “when I suck” and while he doesn’t suck his team certainly did enough to make the season a horrible slog and perhaps that is also enough. It's painful to see him walk away after the underperforming season he had due to terrible OC, injured oline, 32nd ranked running game, and sleepwalking Evans.
2023 was supposed to be the get right year, ughhh. And it had to be another team other than Tampa to get right cause they stink.
Definitely. Thanks to Bowles and Leftwhich. Licht should get some blame too, he hasn't been a good GM the last couple years. He would never retire if he kept overperforming and having amazing seasons. I definitely do not think he’s taking this one back. Not after the cluster of last year. I certainly assume he has some pride in the way he’s perceived and it took a real hit last year.
The guy who put up the original tweet literally said he’s disappointed people don’t get what he meant
Nah, he was very emotional in the video. This is tearing him up. I'm not surprised though. Always thought he would retire or stay w/ TB. Thanks Tom for all the great memories. Watching the SEA SB w/ my boy screaming like teenage girls after the Butler INT was one of the greatest memories I have. The 28-3 comeback, oh boy. The very 1st one where I was the only Pats fan at the SB party screaming like a ****ing idiot. Capped by the beat down of Mahomes. I'll miss you Tom.His heart wasn't in it anymore.
Or my boy Mac 10 he doesn't have anything to talk about anymoreAnyone check on my boy @crawhammer? I'm starting to get worried.
I'm good. But I wonder what Ian will do with this sub forum now? I believe he said previously that he would shut it down after Brady retired. Ian should leave it up, you know, just in case...Anyone check on my boy @crawhammer? I'm starting to get worried.
I'm surprised he's not dumping on the retirement thread in the main forum. That would be totally his style... acting like an *******. I say that with all due respect, Ian.Or my boy Mac 10 he doesn't have anything to talk about anymore
