On Monday, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick celebrated his 66th birthday, but for the last 18 years, the April 16th date has had additional meaning to Belichick and the Patriots as it coincides with another very important moment in team history.

On this date 18 years ago, Belichick drafted quarterback Tom Brady with the 199th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, and as seen in this local news recap provided by WBZ-TV in Boston, his selection was nothing more than a footnote at the time.
The pick would of course become the best birthday gift Belichick could ever ask for.
