New England parted ways with another one of its selections from the 2024 Patriots Draft on Monday, adding to the list of names from a group that won’t be part of the future with the franchise.
According to Jordan Schultz, the Patriots have waived former third-round pick Caedan Wallace, ending the offensive lineman’s tenure in New England.
Wallace joins a draft class that, aside from Drake Maye, hasn’t exactly panned out well.

Defensive back Marcellas Dial had a promising start before injuries hampered him. He’s coming back from the torn ACL he suffered last August, and he remains the lone remaining pick outside of Maye as a possible contributor.
The only other pick you can really say wasn’t bad was the selection of quarterback Joe Milton, who was drafted as an intriguing prospect as a potential backup for Maye. He performed well, but there simply wasn’t a spot for him after Milton had higher aspirations of being a starter, which wasn’t going to happen for him in New England.
Instead, the Patriots parlayed his selection into a draft pick after sending him to Dallas, which they eventually turned into Andy Borregales, Julian Ashby, and Kobee Minor from that group in the 2025 Patriots Draft class.
Disappointing End For Wallace
Wallace came into New England with big expectations, with the Patriots in need of a quality player at left tackle. Wallace was selected in the 3rd round (68th overall) of that 2024 draft, and had starred in college anchoring the right side of the line for Penn State.
The former Nittany Lions standout had played right tackle in college opposite Olu Fashanu, who the Jets snagged earlier in that same draft to be their left tackle of the future. Eliot Wolf was high on Wallace, having said following the pick that the only reason Wallace was lining up at right tackle was simply the fact that Fashanu was the starter opposite him.
“Yeah, we feel like Caedan has the athleticism to play over on the left side,” said Wolf. “Really, his teammate, Olu Fashanu, that the Jets drafted, was the reason that he played on the right. So, athletically there’s no reason why he couldn’t make the switch over there. He’s a really smart, dedicated kid that we feel like can handle that.”
Wallace told reporters after being drafted that “it’s been a while” since he played left tackle in a game, but admitted that he spent time there during the Shrine Bowl and didn’t hesitate when asked how confident he was that he could make the transition to left tackle.
“Extremely confident,” said Wallace. “I mean, I play every position on the line, and I’m just excited to get there and learn under some great coaches and get after it.”
However, he quickly got derailed after a series of injuries hampered his first season. He suffered an injury during training camp and then after finally getting his first start in Week 3 against the Jets, he was knocked out with an ankle injury, which ultimately saw him end up on injured reserve.
The following season, when Mike Vrabel arrived, the bar was raised on the personnel, and the club went on to draft tackles Will Campbell and Marcus Bryant, both of whom became contributors in 2025. The team invested again at the tackle position this offseason, selecting Caleb Lomu and Dametrious Crownover.
Wallace had been seeing time at guard, but it felt like this was a make-or-break preseason for him. Another injury last week saw Wallace again leave the field, and it appears the team is now moving on without him.
