Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Look at the personnel issues, particularly along the OL
Compare the playing style to what it was last season
Note the change in head coach from an offensive mind to a defensive mind

That probably has something to do with it.
This pretty much explains it, plus the Bucs failure to get a quality TE for Brady. Losing Jensen was huge. LG play has been poor, Wirfs has been banged up and not out for a few games and LT Smith is a penalty generating machine. I’d love to see Tampa go no huddle, even a no huddle that takes the play clock down at the line of scrimmage, but I don’t think the TB OLine is up for it. And no way Smith can keep up with a hurry up approach. On those last couple of drives Brady led against the Saints, he was barely out of his stance and the pass rusher was on him and getting around the edge. He looked completely gassed.

Yeah. It is really tough IMO to judge Brady right now. His Oline is a mess and his receivers only seem half committed. When I watch him he does seem just a nanosecond off in some of his decisions. It is also clear he does not trust the Oline either for good reason. The defense IMO is playing well enough to win which gives me hope as I trust Brady to be able to fix whatever is wrong with the offense assuming some of the key guys get healthy by seasons end.
He is missing wide open receivers too though. Some throws are off as well but a lot of that can be attributed to the OL issues. Either way he can play better

The Rams will probably sign Jimmy because they’re ****ing morons.
Garoppolo is a backup quarterback. He's not good enough for any organization to commit to considering his injury history.

He is. I think some of it may be on the receivers too. But he does seem to be off a bit this season. I do think the divorce has taken its toll. I know we all joke about his next girlfriend and all but to lose your marriage and so close to Christmas has to be extremely difficult. There is no question he and Gisele are very devoted parents so I can't imagine the conversations with his kids. They are very young.

I hope Shanahan stops being stubborn and wants Tom to sign with the 49ers next season. It would be great for the NFL.

I wouldn't say poor QB play. I think he's having a C-B+ season. Problem is the team needs him to play like 2021 and he's not right now.
You're a tough marker if you're giving Brady a C-.

Comparing this season to more recent years with 2007 being A+.
2019 = C+ to B-
2020 = B+ to A-
2021 = A- to A
2022 = B to B+

Is Brady really seeing someone or is this just some random attractive woman in a Brady jersey?
She's not some rando but what we middle age and old timers use to call attention whorr. Nowadays their called enfluencers with her millions of instagram followers.

I think it's just gossip. The only thing they got is someone driving her around in an electric Hummer. Apparently Brady has a new electric Hummer.

But I'm sure Brady has heard of her by now. It's gotta be tempting to at least kick the tires and take her for a ride.

Also, Brady is known for wanting to prove people wrong whether it's Michigan, Manning worshipers, Nfl scouts, Bledsoe fans, etc. What a better way to get some revenge on Giselle by hooking with a newer prettier model.

Because I know he's way better than what he's displaying on the field. Ultimately he's a main reason why they're only scoring 18 PPG. Play calling and Oline issues aside he needs to play better.

Right, with Blaine Gabbert they would be scoring 13 PPG.

You realize the running game is literally the worst in the NFL? Their OL has one remaining starter from last season and he sucks. Mike Evans looks washed. Todd Bowles has redefined bad coaching. Brady hasn't been great this season but he's hardy their main problem.

Not sure what you're basing that claim on...
He's the QB so fair or not he'll get majority of the blame and majority of the credit when things are going well.
He needs to play better.
I'm one of the biggest TB12 fans out there, but he's not having a good season by his standards. The Ravens/Browns game is where he left alot of throws that were open out there.

You're listing one game with a few throws, and saying "he's the QB". But, when looking at the data, it indicates that 2022 Tom Brady is a short-throwing game manager with a more than adequate completion percentage, and a tremendously good INT rate. It would also indicate a general problem getting the ball in the end zone via the air, but the fact that the team has only 4 rushing TDs would indicate that Brady is not a/the main problem even with regards to scoring TDs.

Certainly none of the above proves Brady to be blameless. And I really appreciate your response. But I'm looking for more depth to the argument, if you (or anyone else) have it, because I'm open to be persuaded but finding little to do the persuading.

It’s becoming increasingly desperate for Bill people to find something, anything, to suggest that Brady is falling off.

I think Arch's expectation of Brady is too high. Brady can still do his part and play at an MVP level IF the other players do their part and the coaches put them in the best position to succeed. But at 45, he can't compensate for a bad OL, mistake prone receivers (Miller and Evans), the last place running game, a chicken little head coach, and a predictable, vanilla, play caller. 2007 Brady yes but 2022 Brady is looking and moving like the mid to late 30s Eli, Roethlisberger, and Rivers (but he can still incredibly sling it better than they could at 10 years older). Yes the end is near.

That's why if Brady comes back to play one more year, Tampa is out of the question unless they do something about the coaches. I'm not ruling out the Pats either, if Kraft wants Brady back for a last hurrah all they need is to improve their receivers and get a proven OC. They could probably improve their OL rather easily too.

The Buccaneers activated linebacker K.J. Britt from injured reserve Saturday. He returned to practice this week.

Britt appeared in the first seven games for the Buccaneers this season before injuring his ankle against the Panthers.

He led the team with 138 special teams snaps and tying for third on the team with three special teams tackles before being placed on injured reserve Oct. 25.

Honestly I just feel he can play much better than what the currently is. Dont really have much depth to my argument. We see flashes of the good ol Brady magic but not consistent enough. I graded him C-B+ because I know he can still be a top 3 QB and elevate the play of his teammates at his age. He sure isn't the main problem with the offense, but IMO he just needs to be a bit better.

Deven Thompkins is up from the practice squad to play for Bucs today vs. 49ers, perhaps even handling returns. I wrote about his potential and confidence back in June for @TheAthleticNFL. “When he looks in the mirror, he sees an absolute giant.”
