Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Wow. For those expecting months of drama around the divorce going forward you aren’t getting it. Because according to reports it’s done today. Both sides have settled on all matters after lawyers hashed it all out for two months, and it’s done. Marriage over, NDAs signed, everyone moves on.

Huh
That's the way it should be done. Straight to the point and you move on. Good luck to the both of them in their personal lives, but I could care less none of my business

No way. Look at greats such as Marino and Montana dropping down in various records cause of playing in a different era. Brady played half his career in a different era. These extra couple years should keep him at the top for a couple decades.

If he had retired, a bunch of 2nd rate QB would have passed him on some major stats just as Eli, Rivers, Ryan has passed Marino and Montana.
Brady is all about himself and the record book anymore.

It seemed like Brady played not much worse or better than the last few games.
There were big drops ie Julio and Evans. There was a miscommunication with Evans on a red zone pass.

Brady's playing like a top 10 QB but that is not good enough to win with this team. With how bad the run offense and run defense are playing, Brady has to play like a top 5 QB.
He is not complaining about it but I think his shoulder injury against the chief is bothering him. I think it has an effect on his accuracy and arm strength. I think that why we saw a lot of ball in the ground.

Uh huh. So you just gonna skip over last years All Pro season?
Did he go to the Super Bowl? No

Is Brady going to the Super Bowl this season? No

Its over and he is hanging on like Favre did at the end.

But Brady still played good enough to win. 3 or more fumbles/interception is a bad game. 1 to 2 turnovers is average. He again had no turnovers. 300 plus yards.

The main culprit is the run game. 231 vs 44. 7 yards vs 3 yards per attempt. Only an elite QB can overcome that. I've seen enough to surmise that Brady has a lingering injury that's affecting him and Brady doesn't have the luxury of a running game to lean on.

To Say the Bucs rushing game sucks is an understatement :haha:

Not to sound like a Brady homer but the team's woes are not on him. This team has the look of epically bad coaching. There are talented players on both sides of the ball but they look ill-prepared, unfocused, unmotivated, undisciplined and totally uninspired. Hello Todd Bowles. Seeing him up close as a head coach, that role obviously is way above his capabilities. They should fire him now and regroup over this mini-bye. Possibly bring back Arians who at least is a motivator.

With all this Brady scrutiny, it's being overlooked just how bad the defense has been since week 3. They got smoked by the Chiefs in a game where they gave up 189 rushing yards. They wilted badly against a horrible Atlanta offense who scored 15 fourth quarter points and had 151 rushing yards in the game. They got shredded by Mitchell Trubisky who completed 4 critical passes on 3rd-and-11 or greater. They got run over by a Panthers team who is punting the season for another 173 rushing yards. Last night the defense got thoroughly dominated in the second half by a Ravens offense decimated with injuries... 231 rushing yards for the Ravens. Right now they are not at all resembling the Super Bowl winning defense of 2020. In fact they look like a really bad defense with no toughness and no answers.

The major problems on offense are obvious: 1) O-line, 2) running game, and 3) play-calling

To highlight the ineptness of the running game:

32nd in yards
32nd in Y/A
31st in TD

The passing game is struggling in the red zone... just not seeing a lot of separation there. Also there hasn't been much available in the short-to-intermediate passing zones over the middle which is a key part of Brady's passing game. Passing game looked decent in spots last night, they just couldn't establish any consistency. Brady's had some bad throws but he doesn't look noticeably declined or incapable of still playing elite football. Their passing game is the one area where I still have confidence they'll be productive. The running game... the o-line can't block it, the RBs can't run it, and the coaching staff can't seem to scheme it up, so that seems like a lost cause.

The team needs to narrow their focus on the division. The top seeds are going to be out of reach now. Probably 9 wins takes the division, which realistically is what this team is looking at, 9-8 or 10-7 at best. Unfortunately they'll probably be battling uphill from 3-6.

I said it after their 2020 SB win when everybody was trying to give them all the credit and i'll say it again now when it's clear. Bowles and Leftwhich are bums and are no way suitable for their position. Arians was the HC and OC.

Unless they do something drastic, 9-8 is best case. They will keep on giving up 100 plus yards per game and running for 3 yards per attempt. That makes it harder for everyone.

8-9 is more likely, but it might be good enough to win the division as long as they go 3-0 with their remaining games in the division. It's doable as the other division teams look just as bad as the Bucs.

If they want to save their season, they're going to have to drag or blackmail Arians to come back. At the minimum, they need to give him the red marker.

Coaching is the problem here but bringing back Easy Chair would not solve it.

They've got a lot of problems. Improved play calling might get them to 8-9 or 9-8. Enough to get in playoffs and maybe win 1 game but a SB appearance looks like a pipe dream,.. Unless they suddenly get healthy,.. Barrett, Winfield, Julio, Hicks Jenson, Davis, and Brady too. Not likely, just too many injuries that keep piling.

Evans moving up jumping from 57 to 53 all time.

It's crazy but the last 2 games he probably should have had about 150 yards more and at least 2Tds if not for some bad drops, bad throws, and the typical miscommunication that happens regularly between Brady and Evans.

Favre’s final season had him throw twice as many interceptions as touchdowns so no it’s not like Favre.

Terrible comp. Favre had 19 INTs and only 11 TDs with a 69.9 passer in his final season. Favre retired in 2010... he led the NFL in INTs in 2005 with the Packers and in 2008 with the Jets. In the 2000's when Favre was already past his prime (and he played 2000-2010), he was 5-6 in the postseason with 18 INTs in those 11 games. Favre was a turnover machine for the majority of his career but it got really bad in the latter part of it. Brady had 96 TDs for the Bucs in 2020 and 2021. He's 5-1 in the postseason with a Super Bowl title. He has a microscopic INT% of 0.3% this season. There is no comparison to be made between Brady and Favre.

The Bucs have the most talented roster in the division except for perhaps the Saints but the Bucs have a huge quarterback advantage there. Carolina sucks. Atlanta is rebuilding and have a very limited starting quarterback this season. If the Bucs don't win the division then the entire coaching staff needs to be fired top to bottom. Bowles is already embarrassing himself at this point. I've never taken Leftwich seriously.
