Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Like I said last week I’m Brady’s biggest supporter but some of this is on him as well.

Missing training camp when he lost the two o-line men - is probably the biggest

But also - Arians was a decent coach like him or not he challenged Brady - the offensive game plan sucks at the moment - would be very different with Bruce
Some of it is absolutely on him. That was a pretty laughable performance all the way around yesterday. Smart money goes toward the interior pass pro and Brady eventually figuring it out. The rest of that team? Not so sure.

could have used that money

The good news is they're still in first place. The second piece of good news is the only teams with a better record than them in the entire NFC are the Eagles and Giants in the East, Minnesota, Green Bay by tiebreaker but they're heading for a wild card spot, and Seattle. None of these teams are particularly intimidating. So a path to the Super Bowl is still alive.

That said, the team is totally f*cked up right now. I'm starting with Bowles... looks completely in over his head as a head coach, totally clueless... they should demote him to defensive assistant and bring back Arians. Not joking. Arians at least could instill a lot more enthusiasm... the team looks dead. Like Bowles personality.

That drop by Evans on the opening drive was a killer... I think it's obvious the game goes in an entirely different direction with a TD there. Offense was pretty much a disaster afterward. The running game especially looks like a complete fail at this point... the shortage yardage attempts have gotten especially comical. Their best looking drives of the game were uptempo passing with Brady in the gun... they should consider starting out that way. The defense fell apart in the second half+ and they've been uncharacteristically bad against the run this season. They didn't do much against a really bad quarterback yesterday either, which is two weeks in a row now.

The entire operation is just really bad right now, both sides of the ball, and usually when that's the case the first place you look is at the head coach. It won't happen (in season) but Bowles needs to go.

He wanted him gone from being involved with running the offense, from coaching. Arians is in the front office.
In other words, Arians has been neutralized. He was given a great-sounding title and his paychecks are still coming yet he's now outside the decision making loop. He was paid off to give Blowes his blessing and to act as a "face of the franchise" to give the fans the feeling that at least a mature adult is somewhere in the building. Meanwhile, the product on the field has taken a big step back, with most of the same players still in place.

I can see why Brady may have not wanted to come back to Tampa this season. The attitude of the coaches and front office is not the same as the prior 2 years.

Did Beasley retire because he got turned off by the coaches?

No loyalty, lost of leadership and nastiness. Suh had a good season last year and was the best player in the Rams playoff game. He asked to come back but got slapped with the signing of Hicks.
Again no loyalty, lost of leadership and nastiness. JPP fought through injuries to play when he should have been on IR for most of the season. He is head and shoulders better than JTS who is a soft finesse player not good against the run.

Godwin wasn't worth $20 million this season with that injury. He still isn't the same. They overpaid and could of used that money on an OL.
Also of interest to some of us was Gronk's hard "no" on returning.

Yep, I'm sure he's in really bad shape physically, but he wouldn't even play along with suggestions that he'd be back in any way, shape or form.

He's gone and he's not looking back, and that's what I think Tom will be at the end of the season.

Lmao oh god the Packers are playing the Bills in Buffalo next Sunday Night. I know that the Packers and Bucs are not longer related with each other for playoff implications but wow the Packers might be in serious trouble.

Tom could use Belichick right now. Bowles and Leftwich are incompetent. How do you lose by multiple TD to a team that just fired its coach, traded its best players and is actively trying to tank?

Literally zero impact on games in October, which is basically when the losing started.

What Tom Brady could use right now is for Scar to take a trip down to Tampa. This team's offensives woes are centered around the offensive line struggles. Goedeke has been terrible, Hainsey's still developing, and Smith is Smith. That's killing any semblance of a power running game, which is Fournette's style, and it's killing any ability for the QB (and playcaller) to be confident that there will be time for a downfield passing game.

Bucs offense continues to limit negative plays, almost at the expense of positive plays -- they have the league's lowest interception percentage and second-lowest sack percentage, but that also means getting rid of the ball/throwing it away to avoid one or the other.

Brady's 35-yard pass to Cade Otton was Bucs' only play of longer than 20 yards Sunday, out of 65 offensive plays. Brady had 13 passes where he targeted Chris Godwin, none of which yielded more than 10 yards. 28 targets to Evans/Godwin for 139 yards, less than 5 yards/attempt.

And...

For you don't-run-on-first-down types: Bucs threw the ball on six of first seven first downs Sunday, still never got past the Carolina 40. First half vs. Carolina on first down: four carries, 6 yards; 5-for-9 passing for 33 yards. 13 plays, 39 yards is how you score 0 points.

And the above is why we're seeing the following:

Bowles said Luke Goedeke and Nick Leverett were close enough he wanted to get both playing time, and expects to do the same Thursday. Goedeke had his right foot in a boot after the game Sunday. They rotated in Charlotte, Goedeke 48 snaps, Leverett 20.

Leverett got on the field Sunday, and if he continues to outplay Goedeke, his share of the platoon will increase. Just seems like they're not willing to give him the job outright just yet.

On top of all that, and with the injury issues already in the secondary, there's this

Todd Bowles just spoke with reporters. Said Antoine Winfield is likely out for Thursday since he's in concussion protocol today. Not sure where Carlton Davis, Russell Gage or other injured players are in terms of playing against Baltimore.

Even still, Thursday is a relatively possible “get right” game for them. They match up well with Baltimore since David and/or White are capable of spying Lamar, and their secondary tends to collapse in coverage and give up the big play. It all comes down to the ability to give Brady some time. We’ll see.

Brady can use anyone not name Byron Leftwhich.

They could have gone for McDaniels.

If you look at just Brady's stat line minus the TDs, it's very good. Close to 300 yards per game, no interceptions, 1 or 2 sacks a game on average, .5 fumbles per game. I've never seen any QB struggle with anything close to these kind of numbers. It's unbelievable.

It's happening game after game and you would think that the law of averages would take over and the bad luck turns to good luck. If it doesn't happen this week and the Bucs don't get at least 3 rushing/passing TDs with similar passing stats,.. the only logical explanation is the coaching.

As much as the Bucs offense haven't given up much sacks or turnovers the last 3 or 4 games, weirdly the Bucs defense has pretty much matched it. 2 sacks on average maybe and virtually no forced fumbles and interceptions.
