Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I still think he's toast. But who knows may work out for a year and he could be a decent 3rd/4th option

That's surprising. They should take it easy with him.

I would expect them to do that, while shooting for a return that would be before game 6.

He's probably competing for the WR4 spot, with the possibility of being a bit higher early on if Godwin doesn't start week one. So, if he makes the team, it's probably

1/2: Evans
1/2: Godwin
3: Gage
4: Jones
5-6: 1 or 2 more from among the rest.

I called for that a while back, so I'm not going to complain about it today.

You sure? He can give them something as a WR4 down the stretch and help them bring Godwin back slowly

Tampa has two good guys on YouTube who bring good material I’ll be sure to post what they breakdown about his game when it comes out

Nice pickup but I wonder what the Jones signing means for Godwin’s availability…

Definitely takes away an option from the Packers to improve that receiving corps.

I'm definitely sure. I was all for it then, and I'm for it now. When this team goes with 4 WR and either the RB or TE, teams are defending

6'5" Mike Evans
6'1" Chris Godwin
6'0" Russell Gage
6'3" Julio Jones

So, if Godwin is back to his old self, or near to it, Gage and Jones will be getting back of the roster CBs trying to cover them. And, even as a depth move, this (theoretically) gives a veteran to help cover for injury while still allowing for another 1-2 young WRs, especially if they're capable of ST play.

If Julio Jones seems like a gluttony of talent at receiver for Bucs in 2022, first, it is. But second: 19 passes from Tom Brady to receivers not named Mike Evans in the playoffs last year, and just 96 yards, zero TDs on those targets. Guarding against another rash of injuries.

Whatever Julio Jones' contract is with Bucs, he'll likely count more against the 2022 cap with his last two teams in dead money than with Tampa Bay. Falcons have $15.5 million in dead money this year from Jones, and Titans have $4.8 million (with another $8.4 million in 2023).

Interesting that faced w/ going to a team led by Rodgers with not so deep WR corps (= more targets) or led by Brady w/ a deep WR corps (= less targets), Julio chose to play with Brady.

Julio is obviously straight up ring chasing which nice.
