For 20+ years now the media has tried to diminish Brady's success. The only answer I can come up with is that the silly debates drive viewership. For the heck of it, I just watched for the first time in years one of those Stephen A. Smith debate clips on ESPN.com. He was debating RG3.
It’s incredible how not only idiotic they are but also factually misinformed.
RG3 brings up that Gronk changes Brady’s legacy because he was so good it meant Brady always had a security blanket.
SAS yells that’s crazy because Brady won 3 SBs without him (incorrect: Gronk was injured in 2016, so Brady won 4 without him.)
RG3 takes this to mean you can subtract 7-4 and Brady only won 3 SBs without Gronk, which is less than Montana.
SAS brings up that Montana had Jerry Rice, just like Brady had Gronk (omits that Montana didn’t have Rice for his first two SB wins in 81 and 84.)
Both yell at each other.
************.
You forgot The TwigThere's always excuses.
Here are the incredibly great players the Pats have traded or given away over the years.
Seymour - They didn't win for 10 years after he was traded.
Law - Wasn't his a money issue?
Vinatieri - Another loss over money. I'm seeing a pattern.
Brady - Money and quitting on the guy, or thinking that he'd play one year at a time for peanuts. What a stupid mistake.
Gronk - The greatest all-around player in NYFL history and a load and a half. They pissed him off beyond repair.
Gilmore - Maybe the Pats skate because of his potential injury problem, but he's another top talent that got away.
Am I missing anyone?
I think Gronk's bigger issue was his contract and when Bill threatened to trade him to Detriot. And don't forget the Eagles SB where he was having himself a game only to see Butler benched. The offensive players coming out of the SB were steamed. Remember how mad Dola was? We've discussed how Gronk wasn't treated the best by NE but Bucs messed up too. They pushed him to come back from his rib injury too early.
Gronk had to speak out about his injury because Arians and the medical staff were essentially saying it was nothing serious. Punctured lung and crack ribs not serious?
Last week, we pointed out that a negotiated resolution of Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson‘s discipline was possible, but not likely. The problem was that Watson, as of last week, was determined to clear his name.
With Watson settling 20 of the 24 cases pending against him, that possibly will lay the foundation for a settlement between the league, the union, and Watson.
Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports that negotiations have indeed occurred. However, talks “fell apart” regarding the extent of the punishment.

Spot on. Brady covered for so many of bills mishaps over the years. It is becoming painfully obvious that his teambuilding approach does not work at all without having a transcendent QB. He has made a ton of mistakes recently not just Gilmore but also Brady, Gronk, Mason. Not to mention his draft picks and FA signings.
Gronk got paid about 10 mil in 2020 and 9 mil in 2021. Bucs were probably looking to pay him around the same in 2022.If the Bucs are only willing to pay Gronk like $5 million he might very well be taking the position of “you want to pay me half of what (I think) I’m worth? Well fine, I’ll show up Week 9 and play half the games it’s cool.” Which is annoying but I will definitely tolerate it if he stays in football shape.
Why are you posting Watson stuff here when there's already a Watson thread on the main board? Just curious.
Gronk comes back to play less than half the regular season. Works into shape & sync for post season.
I've posted it in both. It's a big story that goes beyond just its own part (potential impact on league). Why are you posting Watson stuff here when there's already a Watson thread on the main board? Just curious.

Players are the main reason I follow the NFL. Brady is about 50% of it. Gronk/Edelman was maybe 25%. Other favorite players are exciting veterans with HOF potential Evans, Suh, AB. Not many players left to keep me hooked as a fan of the NFL.Apparently he wants his minions to be informed since many of them don't peruse the Patriots forum.
