It would have been funnier if he said "ranx" and "thanx." :)

[The great American humorist Ogden Nash once wrote a poem that read, in its entirety:

If called by a panther
Don't anther.

Okay, this forum is getting harsh. What's going on with all the poetry criticism? :p

Understand, and agree. But also realize that sometimes reflex kicks in a lot faster than restraint and inhibitions. Anybody who physically assaults someone three times their size has to accept some share of responsibility for the consequences.

She shouldn't have pushed him, but that's hardly grounds for knocking a tooth out. It was stupid to provoke, but the police and witnesses are saying he went waaaay beyond a reasonable response.

And if a 120 lb woman pushed him hard enough he felt that response was warranted, he probably won't hold up well to 320 lb men. :)

DJ Dean 2015 film against Tennessee. Not a whole lot to learn but I like his physicality.

Van Noy and Williams, too, IIRC.

Rowe goes in the 2018 draft. Conditional 4th that could upgrade to a 3rd.

its about this offseason additions. its more illustration than account.
but it certainly looks amazing..

+1 for iambic pentameter.

All this thread lacks now is a villanelle. (And Jon Toth. Jon Toth would be nice, too.)

Here you go. A few changes to rage.

Do not go gentle into that draft night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of Roger's spite.

Though wise men at their end know BB was right,
Because their words were forked no truth had they
Do not go gentle into that draft night.

Corrupt men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in New York's bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of Roger's spite.

Ignorant men who ignored the science of a ball in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved the Patriots way,
Do not go gentle into that draft night.

Wise men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Lombardi trophies still shine and in Gillette shall stay,
Rage, rage against the dying of Roger's spite.

And you, Mr. Goodell, there on the sad height,
Cursed, booed, a clown shall you stay.
Do not go gentle into that draft night.
Rage, rage against the dying of Roger's spite.

I don't understand why people view LB as a need. They have Hightower, Roberts, Freeny, Van Noy, and McCellin. They are all 27 years old or younger and have good talent.
Jury still out on Van Noy and McClellin for me. Roberts ok on run downs, Freeny a run guy but can't reach the sidelines. To summarize, ok on run downs maybe on sub packages.

Perhaps this is the time to pay tribute to last year's draft/UDFA recruitment.

What a strange year! Robbed of their first-round pick, the closest to a bust among the draft choices has to be the first pick they made, Cyrus Jones, who muffed punt after punt. But after that ...

Thuney, Brissett, Valentine, Mitchell and Roberts all made substantial contributions to a great season.

Add in that Grugier-Hill was picked up by the Eagles, that Karras stayed on the roster all season and that Lucien made the Practice Squad. Add too the UDFAs D.J. Foster, (Jonathan) Jones and Hamilton, who started games, and LeBlanc, who was active for the Bears, and you have a pretty remarkable recruitment record.

Carr will likely be used as a slot receiver in training camp with the Patriots. At 6-foot-0, 202 pounds, Carr compares similarly in size to the other notable receivers on the Patriot’s roster such as Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola. Bill Belichick loves his slot receivers, and Carr fits that scheme as well as anybody. He will, of course, be catching passes from Tom Brady. We would usually put some stats here to illustrate how good the quarterback is, but it’s Tom Brady. He’s pretty good.

Austin Carr agrees to deal with the New England Patriots

generally agree. VN and McClellin were okay but I expected more. Maybe their second year in the system will produce a sophomore bump. IIRC Roberts is still a bit small, might be able to overcome but I want to see sustained production to convert potential to reality. Acknowledge that the Pats have had success with undersized LBs in the past (hiya Tedy!). Freeny another serviceable enough but could be improved on.

Basically, after HT I think the LB level can be improved. Might be the current incumbents, if competition pushes them to up their game or might be fresh blood. Agree that Van Noy and McClellin have the ability to elevate their game, now I want to see it.
