I don't remember you being high on him -- I'll have to search and find out who was.

No, I liked him, and he's on my list of prospects, but I thought Avril projected better at the next level. One of the things I worried about with Crable was his thin calves.

Edit:

Steve Slaton and Bruce Davis are off the board. I liked Slaton as a third down back for NE.

Edit 2: Remember when we talked about Titus Brown (who I like as a rush OLB), and you havd Avril, Robertson, and Crable rated higher? I agreed with that, and I talked about him a bit a few months ago, but Groves and Avril were guys I wanted more. I also had Crable as an option at both 62nd overall, and 69th overall, if you go back and check a list I posted.

love the hypocrisy here. ive been saying for 2 years how we needed to add youth and depth to our aging LB corps. and got nothing but grief for it. now that the team is finally doing something all the bandwagoners are saying how awesome it is we're getting multiple LBs in the draft.

I guess you are the only one who has been hoping for some youthful athleticism for the LBs...Congrats - you are the MAN and the rest of us are bandwagoners...

I'm calling Avril to the Colts

I don't remember ever giving you grief for it, and in fact I would agree 100% with that position.

Thanks for the classy sentiments though.

not saying you in particular, just used your post as an example of the change in sentiment. but trust me for 2 years i have been blasted as a heretic for even doubting brushci, vrabel and seau, and bemoaning the loss of rosie.

I don't think there are a lot of people around here who think that either Bruschi or Seau are every down players at this point in their career. At the same time, the idea that they don't have a valuable role to play on this team is equally ridiculous.

I think they waited to draft LBers early until they found some they liked, and also the time was right with concern to the older guys.

I think a LB corps of Thomas, Vrabel, and then a mix of the older guys contributing and the younger guys being worked in is exactly the right idea, and I think this was exactly the right year to do it.

2 seasons in a row we go ringless and it's due primarily to LBs wearing down at the end of Conference Championship (2006 season) and Super Bowl (2007.) Yeah, nice freaking timing to do something in 2008!

Entirely possible, though even if they don't I'm not sure the Patriots would take him. I know they're high on him, but he seems a little redundant after taking Crable, who they obviously preferred.

You think that's why. Of the reasons we lost the Super Bowl, I would rank the play of the LBs relatively low. You want that to be the reason, because apparently this is your pet cause, but that doesn't make it the case.

I definately agree with that. I definately don't think the Pats will take him. They could go in any number of places, another CB, OL, TE, DT, even WR if they really like someone.

Edit---Avril taken
