Here is the average time to throw statistics so far this year - NGS | NFL Next Gen Stats

Jacoby had the 4th best time at 3.11 seconds this past weekend. Either our WRs aren't getting open or he isn't seeing the defense and not pulling the trigger.
I think the truth is that we aren’t very good at multiple offensive spots:

O-line - teams are getting pressure without have to blitz. The pressure rates are near the bottom of the league and that is without sending extra pressure. I’d imagine Jacoby’s time to throw would come way down if teams were blitzing him.

WRs - we don’t have a game changer and we haven’t for a while. My opinion is we have a group of 3’s and 4’s. Hopefully Polk develops but I don’t think he has the skill set to be a #1, but it would be nice if he could be a legit #2. Our WR group isn’t scaring any opposing D-Coordinators.

QB - Brissett is who we thought he is, a bridge QB. He doesn’t take chances, doesn’t have a big arm, and isn’t a long term answer for any team. But he is a good guy in the locker room and he’s tough. He’s there to allow Maye to have time to develop.

This is a multi year rebuild. We have to address the tackles and we need a legit WR who will scare the opposition.

The quality of our WR's make exactly zero difference with Brissett at QB.

Peppers should’ve ****ing Flattened him.
When people say JB has no time to throw I am like ********. He just struggles to read a defense and wants to avoid dangerous throws/potential turnovers. JB plays to not lose and not to win. I am actually really happy for Geno, anytime someone leaves the Jets and gets good it makes me laugh.

I don't think an actual evaluation can be made of our WRs with JB. As I have said, JB has done a tremendous job not turning the ball over and avoiding sacks in the pocket. Despite the offense we have been much more competitive than I thought we would be. JB will never elevate the Offense though.

Yeah that’s exactly the problem now. His floor of play in not turning it over and generally not making costly mistakes is very welcomed on a team in transition. It is the solid play of the defense that seems to be the confound. That’s where Jacoby’s ceiling becomes frustrating. If the D was porous as well could just chalk it all up as a cluster, and be more receptive to Jacoby’s play, since what difference would it really make? Instead, I think fans see this D and how strong they are, and are understandably becoming more heightened to wondering how competitive the team as a whole could be if they were just a little better on O.

c'mon. It's been 2 games and the OL is the worst in the NFL! get on board!
=================
Most of us thought it would take half a season for the OL to settle down in any way.
==========
AFTER TWO GAMES
1) CENTER - Andrews is fine for this year and maybe next. Jake is on IR. Leverett has shown in the past (certainly in practice) that he can be the backup. However, he clearly needs to be coached up. I presume that is happening. In addition, we have a center on the Practice Squad who might replace Leverett.
Yeah…Jake might be able to take over for David. IMO we need to see more. Leverett could be Jake’s backup but he needs some learnin.
2) LEFT TACKLE
a) Lowe is a starter for us. I might put his grade a bit lower than you do, but he can play.
b) We have a acquired Jacobs who looks like he could develop into a swing OT, as well as a backup LT.
c) We keep trying to give Wallace opportunities at LT. Obviously, this may take time. However, he is currently our backup LT.
Lowe at LT. I’d like to see Hudson take reps in practice. My hope is he will be the swing tackle next year. I see Jacobs in IOL.
3) RIGHT TACKLE
We have Onwenu, with Wallace and Jacobs as backups.
Wallace should be starting with Onwenu at RG.
4) LEFT GUARD
We have Sow, Jordan, and Strange. Leverett is also a backup.
Sow at LG. I think Robinson should backup here and RG.
5) RIGHT GUARD
We have Robinson, with Leverett and Thomas as backups.
Onwenu but until then Robinson
6) RUN BLOCKING
185 yards does speak for itself.
7) PASS BLOCKING
terrible, nowhere near enough time for Brissett
Hopefully when Maye starts, his recognition and release will require less time.
If one of the top 10 QB's were playing behind our OL, folks might think that this an average OL.
===========
BOTTOM LINE
This OL is not good. However, it is ONE player away from being an OK line. Consider the possibility of Wallace developing each game and being a solid starter by mid-season, with Lowe and Jacobs as backups and swing OT's. Alternatively, Lowe might continue to improve, or Jacobs might develop.

Of course, we would still want to acquire a top LT talent next year.
The line is not that good with backups starting but Lowe-Sow-Andrews-Onwenu-Wallace would be an OK line right away.

I am sure people will laugh at me for this, but this team might be a playoff contender right now with Maye. He, in theory will open up the offense which is the weak spot. Defense and STs are relatively solid, so not super unreasonable to think Maye could help string several wins.

Fairly certain we know the product that Jacoby is. Definitely holds on too long and isn’t the quickest read. That being said, this could be far worse than it is. Welcome to mediocrity!
Mediocrity is one thing, but boring is another, and the Pats are in danger of devolving into an uninteresting product to watch.

Yes, teams that have top defenses and run for 150+ yards can often be seen as boring.

Also, teams with passing games of 400+ yards almost every game are often exciting and also have fewer wins than losses.

Maye have the physical ability to attack all areas of the field I can tell you he sees the Football field better than one read Brissett.

So we expect to be competitive with a top defense and 150+ yards rushing?

The Pats have a self-imposed limit of an anemic passing attack.

I don't think an actual evaluation can be made of our WRs with JB. ..

Why not? The film should show if they’re applying what they’ve been taught, and if they have natural separation skills and instincts.

You're right that you will be able to evaluate those things, but for me the thought creeps in that the WRs are not going to 100% if they don't think they will be thrown to. The wr hands are a big part of the evaluation, so those 2 things are the reason that I don't think a good honest eval can be done.

Again some would refute that thinking a WR just wants to line up and run around like a chicken with their heads cut off.

Just came across this and found it pretty interesting.

Is V Lowe second to last?? Thought he would be last can't believe there's anybody worse.

Yeah I don’t know at what exactly those who claim that VD has been even average are looking. I’m sure he knows what to do; it’s that he…just…can’t…get there…quickly enough.
