Your right, Elway had the rule changed. Of course it wouldn't make any sense to trade for him now because he is out for the year, but I guess you could trade for someone on IR who you thought could come back this year.

Although, trading for him now, (assuming the Pats want to pay him for not playing) you might be able to get him on the cheap.
