Nick Chubb test positive for COVID

screwed up state that is doing quite well, and Gov hasn't limited people's freedoms.
Doing quite well? Pull the other one, it's got bells on. Florida's response to CoVID has hovered between disaster and criminal negligence for at least the past 7 months. The only reason they're stabilizing now is the summer travel season is over and all their ongoing negligence is hidden by the simple fact that people aren't moving around as much. That, and many municipal governments are actually showing the glimmer of common sense that seems to be impossible in Tallahassee right now and actually imposing restrictions of their own to mitigate the ongoing crisis.

Florida was the first state to experience massive CoVID related overcrowding in their hospitals and I believe that's still an ongoing problem. They were treating patients in hallways and canceling procedures statewide due to a sheer lack of beds. They also came close to flatlining their oxygen supplies on multiple occasions.

Florida's health infrastructure was a bad joke before CoVID. They weren't ready and it shows badly now, especially in the Miami area which has been LEGENDARILY bad for a long time now due to politicians desperate not to close the beaches.

That hot mess is the hill you're going to die on in terms of "doing quite well?"

Respectfully, Ross, there’s also plenty of blame pie to people who complain about things like this. This thread reached its end, in terms of Nick Chubb. People provided some good information about the protocols, and it was fine. Similar to the Rodgers thread. After threads run their course, they often either disappear to page 2 due to neglect or break down into some sideways discussion.

I feel that some who complain about the discussions are also very well aware that “the marrow has been sucked out of the bone” and they basically come here to inflict themselves with frustration.

Why not just put this thread on ignore, if you don’t like it now? It would just fade away to page 2 anyway, and Chubb status updates will be very obvious.

I don’t think there’s much problem with the moderation here. People need to be adults and not click on threads whose content they don’t like. I understand the criticism of OT stuff on some threads, if it interferes with the actual discussion, bit this isn’t one of them.
I can see your perspective here, though I don't 100% agree. I don't think the thread had "reached its end" necessarily because all we really got was that Chubb had tested positive, and some discussion about protocol. There's obviously a lot of room left for further updates, such as if he continued to test positive in subsequent days, if he started to test negative, etc...

However, to your point, those updates are going to be fairly sparse and straight-forward (i.e., we know he's positive and then a full day or more will probably go by until the next update which will probably just be "he's still positive/he's negative now"), and so due to that lag in actual news, naturally other conversations crop up, and when the underlying topic has to do with COVID, well... we can see what types of conversations those end up being.

So ultimately I do get your point to an extent, but personally, I'd rather the thread go quiet and fall to page 2 until there's news, as opposed to people fighting about their personal feelings about masks & vaccines for 7 pages. I know from a POV as a forum member (not a mod), that's really freaking annoying when I just want to get the latest news and I have to sift through pages and pages of people's boring arguments.

I didn’t ignore this thread because I wanted to know the status of Chubb being able to play. That is why I come here.

Sorry, wasn’t trying to call you out personally. I just saw Ross’s post and just skimmed the last few pages. I can understand, then, the frustration. The forum does have a much more lax thread topic range in the pub. Seems people should just go there.

Don’t be sorry. You’re right. I and many others would be a happier person if I were a better ignorerer.

It definitely is, but there's a lot less traffic there (understandably). We've generally tried to err on the side of not being overzealous on COVID moderation since obviously it's something that has impacted many people's lives in a wide range of negative ways, but it's been a long damn time now. I'm sure we are all feeling really drained reading about it and talking about it, but at the same time it's all people talk about. I talk about it too much in my personal life, and I don't even know why. Depressing, really.

I‘ve been called ”ignorant” by many, and I don’t know what it means, but I suspect it’s a compliment about my ignoring skills. Let me know if you ever want advice.

It's been a long week and I'm going to close this thread. If Chubb's status changes, we'll start a new one and go from there but obviously, the NFL's protocols are what they are and that's what it's going to end up coming down to. So we'll wait and see how it plays out.
