NFLPA - Patriots ranked 24th in the NFL By Players

I'm not sure if this has already been stated, but you're taxed for all road games in the state that you play in, not the state you live in. So sure Miami is great for 8 games of no tax, but then you have 3 road games in New Jersey, New York and Massachusetts, and the divisions in the AFC get (AFCW) California, Missouri 6%, Colorado 4.5%, for AFCN it's Penn, Maryland and Ohio all in the 4-5% range. The AFCS is the only division where you see low or no income tax.

So, the no tax thing is not as big an advantage as you might think, unless you play for Jax, Tennessee, Indy or Houston. Teams that typically suck.

Since this poll is from last year, Kraft is already taking steps to address some of this. The stadium is getting renovated inside and out.
Do you have a source for this you could share? Stadium renovation is not the same as practice facilities renovation.

We all know that Kraft spends top dollar to make the customer experience top notch with all the improvements to Patriot Place, the shops, the convenience stores, restaurants, etc. But those are definitely NOT the same as training facility, weight room, trainer's treatment room, etc for the players.

Right now the Vikings are considered the top team in terms of player facilities. Why?

They have a built a state of the art training center and practice field SEPARATE from the stadium dedicated to improving the performance of their own players.

Pictures speak louder than words:

That stadium is 7 years old. Gillette is 23.

Belichick called the Vegas facility the Taj Mahal of Facility...Think hes becoming a crybaby too?
The guy who bragged every other team - even when they are 2-14 ? Heehee. He’s always one to find beauty in others.

The one that REALLY stands out to me is the supposed treatment of Player's Families. This was always seemed to be a positive for the Patriots. If they're ranked that low because they don't have a daycare at the stadium, the players need their heads examined. 90% of the world doesn't offer daycare at work..
A family room? really?

I guess this comes across as the players being jaded.

A little amusing that the person who reacted “UGH” to this comment is the same one who (in another thread) said people are soft for not immediately returning to work after their pet dies.

I guess the whole “suck it up” thing goes out the window when the opportunity to criticize the Patriots/Kraft/BB presents itself.

They dont spend on the team or the facilities...What exactly is this ownership spending on?
Owners very rarely spend much of thier own dollars on these types of things.. they have investment partners like Gillette and all the advertisers we hear when listening to the game on 98.5

The town of Foxborough was asked to fork up some of the dough to build Gillette, but was ultimately shot down.

As an organization you have so much revenue stream and you had the gull to ask tax payers to fund your project... it's laughable..

Da Bears are moving out of downtown Chicago, away from Soldiers field, and the City of Chicago is begging the team to come back and promising all kinds of funding. But the Bears owners are turning down the funding from the City of Chicago. Why do you think that is happening?

I'll be totally honest with you.. there is so much corruption in Chicago going back decades so that should come to no suprise.. my assumption is the city of Chicago wants the tourist attraction and the revenue that brings to a city.. just my guess thats all..

That's like if the celtics moved from TD garden then the city would be giving them incentives too stay becuase it allows cash flow.. neighboring restaurants and shops, business would loose revenue, those said business pay property taxes to the city wouldn't want too loose!

All these Taj Mahal new facilities were all heavily financed by HUNDREDS of millions of PUBLIC dollars. When at old cheapskate Bob Kraft build his stadium, he did it with his OWN damned money. I find this entire thing to be dumb. When someone explains the guy who bought TWO private planes to travel. Planes that have great food and first class seating. They get an nonstop police escort to the airport. And they stay at top notch hotels, gets a D+ for travel, then I'll start to care about this survey. The only thing that makes sense is if it was a commentary about having to drive down to Foxboro each morning?

Also as I understand it, a complete renovation of the weight room was already scheduled when this survey was taken. Weights are weights, God these guys are soft.

Amazing the Vikings have the best facilities and still can’t win squat

Wait, you think people should be given bereavement leave if their pet dies?

They were 13-4, won their divsion, and actually made the playoffs last year so that's more than you can say for the Patriots.

That's not what he said either.

When it comes to bereavement acknowledgement and mental health, the US is one of the worst in the world. For many people, pets ARE like family. I honestly believe that the many companies' policies on bereavement are ridiculous. Only 3 days if a parent or spouse dies? It just shows how companies don't appreciate their workforce.

Getting back to the subject at hand, which is the Patriots players dinging the team for not having on-site day-care or a "Family Rec Room", one has to ask, How many of them would actually USE the day-care? Have they asked about such services? Was it even a thing back when Gillette was built? Roster sizes have increased by 10 PS players since Gillette was built. That's pretty significant. So there is a likelihood that what players are looking for has shifted. But it's still up to the players to ask for that sort of thing because it's not a cheap expense from multiple viewpoints. (Daily Expense, Liability insurance, etc).

I am well aware of what the Patriots accomplished over 5 years ago. But today is 2023.

The NFL is a what have you done for me lately league.

The past 2 out of 3 seasons we missed the playoffs.

Some of that was due to bad front office decisions, bad drafting, bad coaching, etc.

But the question now, have the Patriots given their players every chance to compete by also giving them state of the art training facilities - the answer is clearly NO.

Again you haven't refuted the fact that the 2023 Vikings won their division, went 13-4, made the playoffs, and were a far superior team to the 2023 Patriots.

If you're implying that the Patriots might as well practice in a dumpster and they'll still win because BB, that's your own opinion. Most of the rest of us see that the players are complaining for a reason.

When Kendrick Bourne complained that the offense was out of whack, in the end his complaints were justified, weren't they? Who better than the players to know if they are in a good or bad situation when they have to live with it and work with it on a daily basis?

In my opinion, people should be given bereavement leave if they are bereaved (unless one doesn't believe in bereavement leave in general, which is another discussion). Far be it from me to determine what is/is not legitimate bereavement. That's entirely subjective and varies from individual to individual.

Many people need time to get over the loss of a spouse, parent, or close friend. To others, their day-to-day companion(s) with whom they share a bond is/are not another human, but a dog, cat, etc. That's OK.

Should someone lose a day-to-day companion with whom they're bonded, they might need some time to process and move forward before they can effectively work.

Have people in this 6 page thread ever stopped to realize that players can make their own personal decisions for themselves, instead of using some anonymous poll as their guide for who to sign with?

Also: looking at our grade report, it seems like the biggest complaint was largely outdated facilities. Seems like they’re already trying to fix this.
