I agree regarding Cannonfodder's suckiness, Solder's longevity, and drafting a LOT.
I also agree regarding Evan Mathis. Bill's inability or unwillingness to sign him after Philly released him
might very well have been the difference between the Pats and the Donkeys playing in the SB.
My suggestion for signing a UFA OLman: Kelechi Osemele. He's a 4-position stud who will be expensive to sign, but the health of TFB is at stake here, and I'm sick of watching him trying to make do with UDFA and over-drafted crap in front of him.
Captain, I have to agree with you. Let's whittle it down in the playoff game to sacks and pressures. One or two less sacks and/or pressures and we win. It is that simple. Third stringers and UDFA back-ups against Ware, Miller, Wolfe and Jackson? Just one less pressure or sack wins it. There are too many DE/Rushers in the League with speed and quickness to not upgrade. This will not cure itself in 2016. I expect that you can give a pass to Jackson and Mason as Rookies.
I also don't understand why Stork was starting the last few games of the season. Andrews was playing at a high level and we were undefeated. I did not see a great upgrade in Stork. If anything a downgrade.
Volmer is adequate at RT but that is all. Cannon (who I had great hopes for) is not an NFL player, nor is Kline or Flemming who we resigned after cutting him. So Solder comes back. He is O.K. but no where near as good as Matt Light who
we all criticized.
We need talent. There is more OL talent in the FA than WR which is another need. That is why I say as I did before
Kelvin Beachum is an outstanding young talent with quickness who because of injury last year should be reasonable.
I think you need a Vet in the middle of the O=Line (think Waters) to direct traffic inside. Osemele would be great but a bidding war participant in FA. I would rather roll the dice with
Jahri Evans for two years as a rotation Guard and tutor. He is a class act if I read it right. Had a down year but so did the Saints team.
My surprise pick would be
Stefen Wisniewski, FA via Jaguars. He made a big difference in the Jags O-line. He is reasonable money and still young. Big factor is he can play Guard and Center. Worse case scenario is an upgrade on Stork.
Just
one or two plays and the Patriots are beating Cam in the SB. Does Evan Mathis make just one block in that game to allow Brady a big play? Incognito?
The Draft is great but look at the nine (9) first round picks of OT the last two years. Only one has been decent and he switched to Guard. Scar or not, do you want to count on a Draft pick to be your O-Line upgrade year one in their career? ....I didn't think so. Back up Draft pick only please.
Two TE sets might be the Broncos Achilles as well. The DEs have to play wider and with a guy say...
Coby Fleener or even a
Bennett! with Gronk, you open up the consideration that your DEs have to spend a split second more to chip or try.
