[qoute] WR Rod Streater, who visited #Patriots last week, got a 1 year, $810k deal from #Chiefs, plus $1m incentives. $10k signing bonus & $110k gtd.

That's a contract we could have proposed...not breaking bank what gives here??? Would have rather Streater than Dobson on our dept chart.

Except idiot volin misses where he can earn up to $4.8m.. He can make an additional $1m on TDs, an additional $1m on catches, and an additional $1m on yards.

That's why he went to the Chiefs, he has a better chance at earning more.

Shockey broke his leg in Week 15 in 2007. He watched SB 42 from a luxury box. Rookie Kevin Boss had a big game that day, though.

And the biggest catch was by a stiff who, essentially, never did anything before or since, but the truth of the matter still holds. It's pretty clear that you 'need' 3 legit* receivers, not counting your RBs, in today's NFL. Two doesn't cut it over the long term.

How 'legit' gets defined can vary a bit according to the system, and the QB, but you're still looking at guys who are either true talents or highly effective in a system.

Volin is on a real roll right now.

2 yr 10 mill for Hicks

Drafting a player at a position That's not an immediate need makes sense, and it clearly paid off.

Signing an aging expensive FA at a position of strength doesn't

Just like Rodney Harrison? Again, we're talking about a top safety costing what amounts to a small amount based on what the position and present market is paying out. I don't buy the notion that Belichick isn't even considering him simply because it's not a pressing need at the moment. We had the best TE duo in history going into 2013. We started the season with one on PUP and one in jail.

I also believe that Belichick is about building the most talented roster he can. I don't think he's sitting there right now saying X amount dollars needs to go to the OL and Y amount of dollars to RB. He isn't going to give it to just anyone based on their position. If Weddle wants to play here and the price is right, Bill will do it.

Why would he have to split time with Chung? Just move him to LB like the Cards did with Deone Bucannon. Chung's skillset is better the closer he is to the line of scrimmage.
Bingo. Saying that for a month. Chung played many snaps at OLB thi season (or hybrid)

Forte said NE and GB had minor interest...mostly due to that 9 mill guaranteed

Re: Weddle

B/R just put out their top 40 FS of '15, found this interesting

Cotchery would be an elite sneaky signing.

LOVE what he's done in Pitt and Carolina the last two years. Seems to make big timely catches
He killed us on the Jets. I remember a certain Playoff Game. Spikes would up covering him on a crutial play. Nuff said.

Not if the Pats don't let him leave without a contract
Wasn't he looking for a playoff caliber Team too? Cowboys.....nyet!!

When you quantify players like this, the rankings always get a little weird, but I like how people here completely ignore Harmon when they blast guys like Tavon and Richards for being "obvious reaches that were never going to work out."

He should come cheap to whoever he chooses...or at least i hope he does

The Streater contract has the potential to get to 4.8M total with incentives. They probably aren't including the NLTBE incentives, which get added to the Salary Cap as they are made now.

I think somebody next off season is going to be very happy to sign Harmon as a full time starter.

.@1053thefan this am we reported that if 4 teams are really bidding on Weddle, #Cowboys at moment are 'Team No. 5'

Cowboys insider reporting that the Cowboys aren't one of the final four teams in on Weddle, so La Canfora's initial report was bogus.

I guess our medical department disagreed.

If there is bidding involved then that basically rules us out.
