No matter who they bring in, they still need to draft a RB or bring back Blount. I, personally, would go younger at the position. Jonathan Williams out of Arkansas is my favorite back in this draft and would be an ideal fit at the position. He creates yards after contact and doesn't need the full 2-3 steps that Blount requires to get a head of steam. He's also not coming off of injury either.
I'm with you there buddy. Tentatively hoping they can land Williams in the fourth or thereabout... A combo of Lewis-Forte/Powell-Williams could be pretty great and probably not very expensive at all.

I don't get the sudden Powell love.

It's because reports are now coming out that the Pats are interested in him. You can look around the forum and see exactly zero mentions of the guy before this.

@NEPD_Loyko
Going to keep an eye on #Cowboys LB Rolando McClain. #Patriots could circle back around and try to strike another deal this year.

@NEPD_Loyko
#Patriots offered him a fairly significant 1-yr. deal relative to what they usually offer. Have an even bigger hole at ILB this off-season.
How does everyone feel about this? McClain might cost some dough but would really help the LB corps. Hightower-Collins-McClain would be a fantastic trio.

@Rapsheet
When Janoris Jenkins signs with the #Giants, it'll be worth more than $12M per year. Huge investment.

Butler's market just got set. And if he takes a 3rd year leap similar to Sherman/Revis, it'll be north of that.
Not really, Butler isn't a UFA for a few years so he loses bargaining power. He'd be signing early and a good discount comes with that.

Well that'd be quite the upgrade over Freeny. Freeny was getting roasted by tight ends.

I know we only saw Waddle in a very brief appearance during the season, but in that limited time, he looked like he could be a solid back up.
He could've been tendered at a 1 year deal too but BB obviously liked him enough to get him back for 2 years instead. What's more interesting to me is that he looked comfortable at LT which is hard to build depth at. If they think he can be a good swing tackle, dump Cannon's fat ass.

He looked decent.

The need someone to back up both OT positions and clearly there are questions about Cannon.

I'm assuming Scar blessed this and that is a good thing.

Not zero. I know one guy who had the foresight to think the Pats would have interest:

Top FA/trade targets for the Patriots

That said. If there is a lot of interest in the guy and he is getting stupid money thrown at him, I would pass.

It's because he averaged 4.5 YPC and had 47 receptions last year - and doesn't have a lot of miles on him. Personally I would go cheaper in the draft but Powell is a solid all around RB.

Good tackler. Good in coverage. Can get after the QB on the blitz. Excellent speed for his size. Strong.

Howe says Pats and Sanu have mutual interest..but what will he cost in this crazy market

I wonder how much of the interest is real. My guess is that it's the same "interest" that we hear about all the time when it comes to the Patriots. They're mentioned as being interested in seemingly about 98.35% of available players.

Powell doesn't even really make sense for the Patriots, given his history. It would have to be an interest based almost 100% on potential, and he's a guy who'll turn 28 in October.

I'm all for it too if it can be done. All 3 LBs would be great at rushing the passer too which is excellent.

I still can't believe LaFell got cut. I gotta think it was an attitude problem. Would have thought he'd get a chance to rebound and his price wasn't that high.

I don't think Lafell was ever really healthy. Those types of injuries can be really nagging.
