Are you honestly saying that he won't be able to improve?
Edleman was a college QB. Far cry from what he is now. Guys like Renfrow are exactly what are needed. Always showed up in the big games as well.
DK said what took you so long & walkes in shirtless to their interview lol
I gotta laugh when people go nuts because we haven’t drafted a replacement for Gronk.
Gronk only became a huge part of our offense because he was Gronk.
Newsflash, he’s not walking through that door, and if he does he’ll be carrying two chicks and a margarita.
You can’t simply replace the GOAT TE that easily. Belichick will find a different focal point for the offense based on the value that is available. Right now RB’s are cheap and we have a great group. Belichick is a chameleon who finds a way to win based on what is undervalued.
These video game offenses all started because Belichick found an inefficiency in the market and stole Randy Moss. Everyone copied him and now he’s finding a different path that everyone has forgotten about. When they copy him again, he’ll change again. It’s what he does.
His 35 in vertical isn't bad.
He's got a 6.8 3-cone which is very good.
His shuttle is decent at 4.19.
His 40 yard dash was 0.06 seconds different than Edelman.
What did Edelman "excel" at in terms of being a WR coming out of college?
And yes, this puts Renfrow in the 7th/UDFA category for me..
Because Newton is coming off surgery..
According to Miguel, they have 13.5 mil in cap space.
So you're totally confident that Michel won't blow out his knee again and that Burkhead will be available for more than four games? Cause I'm not. And how is OT a luxury pick when we have only two and one of them is coming off a serious injury and has never been tried?
You see every division rival improved their team, I'd say the Patriots did too. This is a nice influx of young talent.
He'll trade one of them, maybe for a 5th and a 2020 5th
Where'd you get that 6.55M number from? Miguel has us at 13.13M..
We covered this a few pages back.
NFL Draft: Day 2
The Pats have 2 who have taken snaps (Croston and Cannon) and one highly touted 2nd year player in Wynn. They also added Lang and Ryker Matthews though both are probably more Camp Fodder/PS guys..
Actually, it wasn't that far back.. But nice response.
We'll probably never get another Gronk but I seem to remember winning super bowls before we had Gronk.
People said we'd never have another Ben Coates.. I'd say that Gronk surpassed Coates.. And we can't forget Russ Francis..
However, it's more a generational thing.. Probably won't have another great TE for 10-20 years..
That was the strength of this draft and there are still 2nd/3rd round types tomorrow - Anthony Nelson, D’Andre Baker, Christian Miller, CGJ, Deionte Thompson, Amani Hooker, Mack Wilson, Kelvin Harmon, Hakeem Butler, Charles Omenihu.
Still some intriguing value.
wouldn't mind gerald willis in the 4th too, few intriguing players still left on the board
we might also see BB trade up with one of the 133/134 and a seventh, wouldn't be shocked if Pats keep the 3 4th round picks (but expect them to trade up with one of the late 4ths to jump for a player they really like)
quite some value to be found in 4th round
Edelman's short shuttle was in the 97th percentile for WRs, and his 3 cone was in the 94th percentile. His measurables made it clear that he was absolutely elite at a very specific skill. To be clear, he was much better in both drills than Renfrow. His 3 cone was 6.62, and his shuttle was 3.92. Renfrow's 6.8 3 cone is good, sure, but it's not in Edelman's ballpark, he's on a whole different level. So the best possible case you can make for Renfrow is that he's Edelman minus the physical traits that make Edelman exceptional.
To sum it up in a sentence: you're dramatically underselling how good Edelman's measurables are within the limited scope of what he excels at and what makes him a standout WR. For a visual representation, compare Julian Edelman - MockDraftable to Hunter Renfrow - MockDraftable. Also a small disclaimer: I place an especially high value on broad jump, since I think it's a great proxy for functional athleticism within a small area. It's a big part of why I was a big fan of the Chandler Jones pick, guys with impressive broad jumps tend to be able to translate their athleticism into burst off the snap, and that's definitely a strong point for Edelman as well.
