NFL Cuts Thread

@AlbertBreer: As @ProFootballTalk reported, Seahawks are releasing QB Terrelle Pryor.

Any PS eligibility? It's time for him to switch positions.

Fourth year, so no.

John McClain ?@McClain_on_NFL
Confirming #Texans have released cornerback Brandon Harris, a 2011 second-round pick. @JPalmerCSN was first to report.

Giants cut Kellen Davis and Curtis Painter, per PFT

Also, the Vikings have cut Fred Evans.

What advantage does BB perceive in waiting on his cuts? Hopes that other teams fill their 53rd spot with someone else's cuts so he can get his guys onto the PS?

Conor Orr ?@ConorTOrr
Can confirm the Giants place Trindon Holliday, Mario Manningham on IR. #nyg

Adam Caplan ?@caplannfl
#Browns also are going to release FB/RB Chris Ogbonnaya, source confirms http://cleveland.com report. A little surprising with this cut.

No role left for him with #Lions. RT @davebirkett: The Lions have informed RB Mikel Leshoure he's being waived.

Leshoure is a 2011 2nd round pick who was either injured or lost his job throughout his short career. He's only 24 and 6' 233 lbs. May be worth a look.

AQ Shipley was released by the Ravens. He's someone who I think would be an upgrade over Wendell and could play center or RG.. But there are several teams after him already..

Mikael LeShoure released by the Lions.

Perhaps if some particular players become available it may influence what players BB will cut or keep. There may even be a trade on the table predicated on who becomes available. Likely there are battles so close that he needs as much info as possible before making the final decision.

So why doesn't everyone wait until the deadline?

Picked directly after Shane Vereen, despite being "ranked" much higher. My crystal ball doesn't get many forecasts right, but this one it did -- I wanted no part of Leshoure. (Still don't.)

I remember being pissed off when BB took Vereen with Leshoure still on the board. I thought he was going to be a beast.

Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet
The #Bucs have waived Olympic sprinter Jeff Demps, source says. Will be an interesting potential pickup.

The #Bucs have released QB Mike Kafka, source says.

I always considered Demps as Kraft's $400k donation the the US Olympic Sprint Team.

Does BB wait this long every year? I don't think the battles are always as fierce and across so many positions for most teams most years, as the Patriots this year. Also, I think most teams don't scout nearly as many players as deeply as the Pats do, nor do they trade nearly as often.

There may be others reasons, I'm just trying to think of logical possibilities.

Jets waiving 2012 second rounder WR Stephen Hill.
Another high round disappointment.
