Next Stop, the Underwear Olympics

Will have to revisit his tape but Anthony Johnson has impressed me today. Don't want to go all Michael Sam but his body looks great for his position. Can see why he's called The Freak.

Very nice, spilled my coffee reading that one

So Clowney misses drills because of an injury (tight hip-flexor) and he's lazy but everyone else who misses drills because of an injury aren't? Hmmm.

I don't think he is lazy I think he is smart, this is his future that's what kids go to college for to have a future and earn money in their life. If he suffered a career ending injury there was not going to be any NFL team that paid him $20M because he played hard at Maryland.

The kid is a 266 lbs. chiseled beast who runs a 4.47 40, lazy people don't have six packs at 266 lbs. That takes hard work in the weight room, cardio and a disciplined diet. I am not going to fault him because he was cautious and less aggressive on the field so he could make sure he didn't get his knee taken out by some future field sales rep who was playing 2nd string OG and didn't want Clowney to sack his QB.

Warren Sapp on Timmy Jernigan: "The young man just jumps off the tape like a turd in a punch bowl."

Well, there's an image.

Clowney jumping. 37.5" vertical. Hip flexor was ok for that one.

Clowney 37 1/2" vertical.

BOB just asked for a tissue.

Daniel Jeremiah: Clowney was on his way to having an exceptional day, and now he's having a question mark day. You don't run a 4.47 40 or put up a 37.5" vertical with an injured hip flexor.

Charles Davis: "Is he selective? Will he take some plays off?"

I'm not bashing Clowney. Maybe he's just listening to his agent. Maybe he's being smart, and it won't make any difference. But if he had gone out and done all the drills (including the LB drills) on top of his numbers, it would have made a big statement to everyone about what kind of a player he is. Maybe he's really injured, but people will question it, especially with choosing to do some exercises and not others, and the numbers he put up.

Clowney broad jump: 10' even 1st attempt, 10'4" 2nd attempt.

...I'm not bashing Clowney...

Yes you are. Come on, now. Stick to your convictions. Here's a guy claiming injury who still did another event, yet you're bashing that. Clowney's doing straight line drills which don't require lateral movement while claiming a physical issue. Meanwhile, others are skipping the entire thing, and QBs are deciding not to throw.

What we're hearing on TV is just people looking to keep things interesting.

Aside from Clowney, none of the other 1st/2nd-day pass-rushing DEs have impressed me.

Watching the Clowney/Manziel simultaneous 40 yd footage.......no way I'm taking that little boy QB at #1. He's freakin puny!! He's Michael Vick with a less athletic body. How'd the Vick experiment turn out.....great until he snaps in half every year.

Why weren't you saying this about Johnny Manziel yesterday? Or Andrew Luck?

Because there are no major questions about their work ethic or motor. Manziel has questions about his size and his bigger-than-life persona, but no one doubts that he's a competitor. Luck never had any questions about his competitiveness.

I think that if you're a competitor and someone publicly calls you out on a national stage, you want to answer that.

Anyway, enough said. I won't mention Clowney again.

Aaron Donald 9'8" broad jump.

Ra'Shede Hageman 35.5" vertical.

Some comparisons:

- Geno Atkins: 9' 9" broad jump, 33" vertical
- Ndamukong Suh: 8'9" broad jump, 35.5" vertical

2nd DL group 40's start. Kareem Martin: 4.72 40, 1.60 10 yard split. Very nice.

Deandre Coleman 32" vertical. Solid day.

Ebron did the same thing the other day. Bridgewater didn't even run the 40.

Clowney did the things that market him the best. The drills aren't really going to give him any increase in value.

Hageman with a 9'3" broad jump to go with his 35.5" vertical.

Louis Nix 5.35 40, 1.85 10 yard split.

Kelcy Quarles 5.00 40, 1.81 10 yard split.
