Next Stop, the Underwear Olympics

Don't forget that they'll perform at their pro days. Teams will still get to see them perform.

I know I just feel the combine is more accurate because it has everyone on an even playing ground.

Jach Kerr 5.03 2nd time. Close to Hageman.

Despite Donald killing the Combine and having great tape, I think this is such a talented draft that he isn't a sure thing in the top 20. I very much doubt any of the teams in the top 12 will take a DT given their needs and all of the other talent in this draft. St. Louis at 13, Chicago at 14, and Dallas at 17 are the most likely top 20 options that I see.

What about Atlanta?

Clowney apparently won't participate in drills, according to Josh Norris.

What about Atlanta?

It's possible that they fall in love with Donald, but they have bigger OT and outside pass rush needs. They already have a pretty good penetrating 3-tech in Jonathan Babineaux. One of Clowney, Anthony Barr, Ryan Khalil or one of the top 2 OTs (Robinson or Matthews) will slip to #6, not even counting the possibility of a trade up.

Apparently he's doing some of the drills but not others. Hmm .... sounds like a guy who's motor isn't on all the time.

Warren Sapp and Mike Mayock love Timmy Jernigan's footwork in the drills.

No it doesn't. It sounds like an agent who has too much control.

So...

QB or Clowney at #1
Clowney, Robinson or Watkins at #2
QB at #3
QB, Clowney or Watkins at #4
QB at #5

Well he just ran a 4.47 40 yard dash @ 6'6", 266 lbs for comparison, Sammy Watkins, the consenses #1 WR from Clemson ran a 4.43 yesterday. I'm telling you, this kid basically played last year, not to get hurt and I can't blame him for that. Anyone that bypasses him in this draft will regret it! I would not want to face a front four that includes Watt and CLowney!!!

If the major question about a prospect is about his work ethic and motor, then having him clown around at the Combine while other players are working through drills and then decide to do some but not others doesn't send a very good message. It suggests an attitude of entitlement.

So Clowney misses drills because of an injury (tight hip-flexor) and he's lazy but everyone else who misses drills because of an injury aren't? Hmmm.

I don't want to get sucked into this one. I just think that if teams are concerned about Clowney's work ethic/motor, this won't help. It's not as though he's injured and isn't running any of the drills, he's just skipping some of them. If teams are in love with the athleticism, they won't care.

Will have to revisit his tape but Anthony Johnson has impressed me today. Don't want to go all Michael Sam but his body looks great for his position. Can see why he's called The Freak.

I think the big two questions in the top 5 are will Houston take a QB and which one. Will the Rams trade out of the #2 pick.

I like Watkins a lot, but i think he'll go between 6-10.

I agree with you I remember reading articles last spring that he was considering sitting out the year to avoid injury, I cannot remember if they were creditable sources.

I understand the concerns about his motor but realistically this is a guy who did everything to position himself to be a top 10 pick in 2013s draft but rules prohibited him from entering the draft.

I do not think he wanted to play college ball this year and on some level I can understand. He stands to make millions of dollars that can take care of him and his family for years, big picture he prioritized doing what was best for him over what was best for Maryland. In reality though Maryland made millions on his sheer presence, his teammates benefited by always having scouts around to see their play when they were watching Clowney.

Judge Clowney but if he had gone out and tore up a knee he would have dropped and lost a ton of money and for what? They should not make the players wait 3 years, it should be like the NBA 1 year or maybe 2 years.
