**** Ben Volin. Worst sports journalist in the country.

That's all I have to say on the matter.

The modern day empty apology. No sign of actually being sorry or any accountability. Just informal “acknowledgements.” Earnest people don’t “appreciate” comments and feedback after making a mistake. They loathe it and its constant presence on their newfound journey to never repeat that mistake again.

Also no mention of the words “I’m sorry” or an equivalent. Not even a “Sorry if you were upset.”

What makes Trolin's actions so egregious is that he takes the DM from his "source" and expands upon it to include practically the entire FO & coaching staff vs an uncoachable Mac - unless there's even more to the DM than we've seen, this was done with the proverbial malice aforethought... Not at the Johnny Ton-ass-e level, but in the same direction regardless, which is that of utter disregard for what used to be known as "journalistic standards"...
I mean this wasn't a little loose speculation on his injury or something; this was an allegation meant to shake the very foundation of the organization, which was his intention all along... Betcha he doesn't show his weasel face in the locker room for awhile...

Don't bother. I wasn't going to say anything because those situations always end up looking like sour grapes, so I let it go. Had Reimer's name not come up, I probably wouldn't have mentioned it but since I'm among friends on here, I just needed to vent

Doesn't help the fact that his assertions create an unnecessary narrative about Mac without any real proof, which certainly isn't fair to a player who is focused on trying to get better and help the team succeed. It's unfortunate when people in the media put themselves ahead of everything, and this was a moment where Volin obviously was looking to garner some attention on a bigger stage, and it clearly backfired.

I think it marks you as a spammer if you try to post a lot and your posts don’t even make it to the moderation queue.

Mac Jones played for a legendary hard ass HS coach in Florida. Then he went and played for Saban, another hard coach, and stuck it out and won National
Championship, when guys like Jalen Hurts had transferred. And when he went 15th in the NFL Draft he immediately talked about how NE was where he wanted to be, primarily because he wanted to be coached hard by Belichick. But now, based upon a prank DM, that Volin lied about and claimed they would have inside knowledge, he’s a diva. Volin should be suspended for making this **** up.

Also true about Jalen Hurts, but a caveat: after starting as a true freshman and sophomore, Hurts played his entire junior season at Alabama as a backup to Tua (although playing plenty of important snaps) and by all accounts was the perfect teammate and consummate professional. I don’t know of any Alabama fan who begrudged him taking his talents to Oklahoma for his senior year, he handled it perfectly,

This is how some stories develop a life of their own: Someone reports something he read or heard from someone else before verifying that the source of the report is who he claims he is in the first place... Then a third party reports the story by using the reporter of the original story as "the source"... Other outlets piggy-back on the same concept, and soon the whole idea of finding the truth is forgotten...
