I've been burnt by one year starters before but here I am. Im a big fan. Sure he's a project but so is every other QB to an extent. Every one of them needs decent work so I'd gladly roll the dice with Lance. A bit much here but his skill set is truly unique.
A)He's as physical and as tough as they come
B)Check out the first clip below ... I know a lot frown upon this sort of thing but very soon all we'll have are mobile QB's. Lance can make something out of nothing - backed up on GL, blitz coming at you. facing bad field position? No problem, great call to counter and Lance picks up 40. Again great designed call and check out that block by Radunz.
@Mark Morse I just added him and think he'd be perfect here. Anyway the playmaking ability is real.
C)Its not just his legs. Dude passed for 28-0. I repeat 28-0. He can obviously pass the ball and make good decisions. If Josh Allen can improve why can't Lance? He also complete 65% of his passes I believe. It's box score im not eval prospects here but it speaks to decision making and accuracy.
Bill didn't have many options (topic for another thread) at QB but ultimately picked Newton. So it's not as farfetched as some might think. 0 chance he's there at 15 but I'd happily trade up to 7-8 if I could.
I've been on the Collins bandwagon before it was cool and would be thrilled to land him here. I just started doing defense and hes one of the guys I really want to see run and test but I really like the prospect. He's not as physical as Hightower, think more KJ Wright but I'd love the pick. He could play any LB position and loves getting after the QB. The really intriguing thing about him and Parsons is the fact that you can line both up outside, off the edge. Blitz inside and Collins is a lot further along when it comes to coverage. Probably further along in most areas upstairs.
I understand most want a fatty here but again the game has changed. You need disruption and controlled chaos upfront. Stills is one of the more refined rushers in the draft at his spot (IDL), familiar with some of the things we like to do (bear, stunts) and can line up in multiple spots.
This is one of the big problems we have. We don't just need a fatty but also disruptors as well. Just like at WR. We need speed, rr, playmaking types. We need them all lol. So it's tough to go in a wrong direction there.
I like Newsome and will have Smith graded in this area as well. I think Brown, Newsomes teammate might be an option? Brad Kelly recently comp'd him to Lee Evans and that makes a lot of sense. I'm a big Smith fan tho. I'll have him and Eskridge in my top 10 I believe. T Grimes is another guy I really like that'll have a much better NFL career than college.
I had a rough 4th-5th on Fields. He should be 5th-6th imo so I like that pick. Lines up with the value.
I'll probably have a 6th-7th on Hutch so again nice value. I'm going to be adding some names most likely. Hudson from Cinci and Van Lanen from Wisky. Everyone always talks about Slaters game against Young but Van Lanen had a great game (and a stinker) vs the lottery pick.
Big fan of Gillespie and Meinerz as well. Just waiting on more tape on the fat boy. I like his movements, awareness and footwork though. He absolutely has to get stronger but he looks like a player.
