We have 3 picks in the first 2 rounds. I see a lot of these players being available for us......any standouts you like?

Safety- Reggie Nelson -Florida , Michael Griffin -Texas, Brandon Meriweather Miami

WR- Dwayne Bowe -LSU, Sidney Rice South Carolina ,Robert Meachem Tennessee

LB- David Harris, Michigan, Buster Davis FSU, Willis Ole Miss, H.B. Blades Pittsburgh

CB- Fred Bennett South Carolina, Marcus McCauley Fresno St.,Daymeion Hughes California

add lamar woodley and patrick willis to lb

I have Willis on here and I think Woodley will be gone before pick 24

Highlighted those I like. Assuming you think Revis, Hall, and Landry will be gone by 24?

Others I like for the Pats in the first two rounds:

OT Joe Staley, Central Michigan -- measured in at 6055 296. Left tackle prospect

CB AJ Davis, N. Carolina St -- measured in at 5095 192
CB Chris Houston, Arkansas -- 5'11" 185

DE Victor Abiamiri, Notre Dame -- measured in at 6044 271
DE Anthony Spencer, Purdue -- measured in at 6024 266
DE Dan Bazuin, Central Michigan -- 6'3" 265

RB Brian Leonard, Rutgers -- measured in at 6010 224

WR Anthony Gonzalez, Ohio St -- 6' 195
WR Johnnie-Lee Higgins, Texas El-Paso -- measured in at 5112 183
WR Chansi Stuckey, Clemson -- measured in at 5101 193

Yeah, they were saying on NFLN that Leonard lost 15 pounds to show he could play RB and not just FB. We'd have to use one of our #1s to get him and I don't see us doing that but he and Maroney would be an intriguing, versatile pair going forward. I'd much prefer youth in the Back Eight on defense though.

I agree this is where our greatest need, in no particular order, need an infusion of speed, quickness and ball hawkability.

i think RB Brian Leonard, Rutgers -- measured in at 6010 224 would be a good pick for us if he can be had when we pick

As of now it looks like we'll be able to get both Michael Griffin and Marcus McCauley in the first round as they've both dropped due to so-so and poor senior years respectively. I don't know if we'll want to go the route of "disappointing senior year picks" but this would have been an unrealistic dream scenario back in September.

I actually like McCauley, didn't list him because of his benching. The talent is supposedly there...certain coach Hill will fill in BB as to his coachability, attitude, etc.

I LOVE DAVID HARRIS OUT OF MICHIGAN L O V E HIM.... I think he would be a great pick

I thought he was bigger than that (he's been described as an RB in a FB's body), but I'd love to see Leonard with a Flying Elvis on his helmet.

Belichick has been quoted to say: "... Don't give me a defensive player who can't tackle. What would I do with him?.."

That's a description of McCauley.

I do not see the Pats taking a WR in the first round. They just don't value the position as highly as others. I can see them taking one in the second or third for value.

Yes, he lost 10 pounds so he would be considered a RB also...not just a FB. Will help his 40 time...

Harris LB Michigan

He's been described as the heart and soul of the Michigan defense. Others have said that with a defense of stars, Woodley, Hall, Branch, Burgess, etc. he's the guy that is willing to do the dirty work, the special little extra (non-publicized) things to make that defense even better.

If true, that sounds like a future Pats player.

While I still would love to see the Pats take Willis in the first round and eventually work him into Bruschi's spot, I would have no bones if we bag Harris in a later round if Willis is off the board by #24. (But only if he runs well.)

David Harris was the best linebacker on the Michigan defense. He was also named team MVP (even with stars like Hart, Henne, Manningham and Breaston on offense and Hall, Woodley, Branch, and Burgess on defense) and would be a fantastic add for any defense in the league. Harris is the best prospect coming out of Michigan this year, and that's saying something.

He's fast, well-built and has fantastic speed. Would be a great addition to the inside.

As for safeties, we could use someone like Reggie Nelson. He's another hard hitter and a ballhawk, and we could use him if Eugene is going to move to corner (and he should).

At other positions, a few other players to watch:
Aundrae Allison, WR, East Carolina: Allison is a fantastic physical prospect who has been receiving more and more highlights. This year's future workout wonder. I don't know if he's a Patriots-type player, but he definitely has the skills to make it in the NFL. A definite second-round prospect.
Lamarr Woodley, LB, Michigan: Not that we didn't have our eye on him anyway. Woodley is a fantastic player and works very hard. He doesn't have an ego and would be a good fit here.
Tony Ugoh, OT, Arkansas: A huge lineman with PHENOMENAL run blocking skills. Another hard worker and a good fit for our line. Could rise to our late 1st or drop to our 2nd.
John Stocco, QB, Wisconsin: Not by any means a Day 1 pick, but definitely has the mental skills to make it in the NFL as a backup if we're looking for one. Works hard and plays tough without getting much attention. Sounds like a Patriot to me.

Paul Posluszny is another potential player at Linebacker.
With the influx in talent from all the juniors, Gaines Adams could slide the way Wilfork did and he'd be GREAT for the OLB/DE position opposite Colvin.

I have to agree about Brian Leonard. I mentioned him back in October/November as a potential pick because, up until this year, he had been a RB and he made the move to FB to help his team. The kid could easily replace Evans and Pass and give the Pats a LOT of flexibility out of the backfield when lined up with Maroney, Dillon or Faulk.

With the 24th and 28th pick in the first round we have the chance to get a couple of good players and I would like to get Marcus McCauley,Paul Posluszny, or if another good line backer drops would be just fine. so with the second round pick I would go Aaron Ross (Texas) or Earl Everett (Florida).

Id love to see us pick Posluzsny if he falls to us, or Harris from Michigan, or why not both? Pos with the first first, a CB/S with the second first, and then harris in the second? Id like that a lot.

Yo Dabriunz

Why do you think Adams will slide????

Have you heard something you can share with us???
