It shows a mentally tough team. Mentally tough teams that have talent usually go on to do very well in the postseason.
I agree with you there. However the streak of teams winning 9+ games on the road all winning the Super Bowl is gonna still be tough for them to continue. They have to beat the Patriots, then the Chiefs or Colts and then whichever team comes out of the NFC. Still quite a mountain to climb. I love stats like this. For every one favoring one team, there is another favoring the other team. Patriots are 7-0 in their last seven games after a playoff bye. All teams to previously win 9+ games on the road have won the SB. Will be fun to see which streak ends. The streak that the Chargers are trying to keep alive is certainly the more interesting one. They either continue that compelling trend or they become the only team with 9 road wins to not win a SB. Good stuff!
Also, regarding the Chargers mental toughness, you would almost think they should have had a better home record. That sorry excuse for a home stadium they've been playing in has almost made it seem like they were playing road games there too. Seats less than 30,000, often not close to full and plenty of fans of their opponent showing up. Given that they just moved to LA, it almost seems as if they played all their games on the road!
