It shows a mentally tough team. Mentally tough teams that have talent usually go on to do very well in the postseason.

I agree with you there. However the streak of teams winning 9+ games on the road all winning the Super Bowl is gonna still be tough for them to continue. They have to beat the Patriots, then the Chiefs or Colts and then whichever team comes out of the NFC. Still quite a mountain to climb. I love stats like this. For every one favoring one team, there is another favoring the other team. Patriots are 7-0 in their last seven games after a playoff bye. All teams to previously win 9+ games on the road have won the SB. Will be fun to see which streak ends. The streak that the Chargers are trying to keep alive is certainly the more interesting one. They either continue that compelling trend or they become the only team with 9 road wins to not win a SB. Good stuff!

Also, regarding the Chargers mental toughness, you would almost think they should have had a better home record. That sorry excuse for a home stadium they've been playing in has almost made it seem like they were playing road games there too. Seats less than 30,000, often not close to full and plenty of fans of their opponent showing up. Given that they just moved to LA, it almost seems as if they played all their games on the road!

This is correct but sad too...
Imho pity that they left Sd...

In the heat of the moment, I would decide after a lengthy debate.
take your time, man. They have no substaince at all so it takes awhile to sink to the bottom

Not sure the historical evidence suggests that they show up flat for games after playoff bye weeks.

Since 2001, the Patriots are 11-1 in the postseason after receiving a first round bye, and 7-0 since the one loss in 2010.

They have outscored their opponent in those 11 wins by a score of 344 to 191.

Only three of those eleven opponents had fewer than 10 wins (the 2011 Broncos, 2016 Texans and 2017 Titans) and six of those eleven opponents had 11 or more wins. Combined record of those eleven opponents was 115-61

The only loss in twelve tries after a postseason first round bye was to the Jets in January of 2011.

Conversely, in the three playoff games they have played since 2001 in the wild card round, they are 2-1, the only defeat being that ugly loss to the Ravens in January 2010.

Brady has been historically good after a playoff bye week. 3,117 passing yards in those eleven wins, with 24 TDs against only 4 INTs.

After a regular season bye, maybe they come out flat. I'm not entirely sure that is the case but it feels that way without looking up the data. But in the postseason with a bye, they are pretty dominant.

The one time they came out flat was the 2010 game vs the Jets and IMHO Belichick can take the blame for that by benching Welker at the start of the game. I think that put the team in a funk.

Is this somehow true no matter what direction you’re coming from, or is this following a specific route? I’ve never seen the stadium in person and would love this experience if I eventually make the long trek, someday.

From my experience no matter which way you come into Foxboro you'll see the stadium.

You owe it to yourself to make the trip sooner than later, especially to see Brady live. The Colts game this past October was my 9th trip down from Canada to see a game and it's always such a great experience. On gameday morning I'm up way before my alarm, dressed and impatiently waiting for my wife and friends to get going.

Jesus not this garbage again.

Don't you know the game is OVER if the Chargers go up 7-0???

And not because Rivers will fold. But because it negates their pass rush.

First of all there is Brady, who dominates in bad conditions. Then there is the Chargers having to play back to back east coast games at1:00pm, and last there is the Chargers having to play in conditions the simply haven’t experienced. None of it guarantees a win, but it certainly makes the Hill much higher to climb for the Chargers.

I made the mistake of turning on my radio as I went out for lunch today.

I then tuned in to Colin Cowherd (second mistake).

I then didn't change the channel when he brought on his guest, Rob Parker (3rd mistake).

What I learned from that sage (Rob Parker) is that the Patriots are the 8th best of the 8 remaining playoff teams, that LA is a lock. However, he does not rule out the chance that somehow, some way, the Patriots might win if Tom Brady continues to be the luckiest player on Earth, a guy who just happens to stumble upon success over and over again.

My blood pressure rose more than it ought to. Man, I hate Rob Parker. He assured us in 2013 that Brady was done and he'd never sniff another Super Bowl, and yet he is all over the airwaves. Why? I guess hating the Patriots, irrationally, is good for ratings.
Whenever I travel to the United States for vacation,,,,I always go out of my way to have my Sherlock Holmes hat on and see if I can bump into this Rob Parker.
I swear I would lose it and God knows what I would do .
My hatred for him is so great ,,,I would win the hate competition against Rob ass#ol# Parker.

You're missing the biggest reason, BB will have schemes around 1st year coach Lynn's plays.

STFU you contentious azzole...you ALWAYS spew negatives on this board. It's old, played out ignorance on a galactic scale. Pats fans just want to ENJOY their team, win or lose. We don't need your constant negative trolling garbage before every goddamned game the Pats play.

Thank you, my friend. I suspect that most of those whiners weren't around in the pre-Brady days. These are Golden years for all of us Pats Fans. I am proud to wear their laundry.
