I got grief in the game thread, after the game was over, for noting that Thompkins was lousy. Well, apparently Reiss is a vicious, evil hater, too, as he had him on his "down" list in his "ups and downs" column.

This is probably true, which highlights how the rest of the receiving corps and tight ends are the problem.

If catching 4 of 14 targets for 42 yards doesn’t put you on the down list, I would be seriously concerned about how badly the rest of the players played. Thompkins deserves to be on the list no doubt about it, he was not the player that he was in the preseason, not even close, he was downright detrimental to the team at some points today.

I hope he turns it around, but let’s call a spade a spade.

One huge thing I left out of my previous thoughts was this – My hatred for Aaron Hernandez tripled during this game, I actually just thought of him as a moron before the game, yet I did not have a ton of hate for him, after watching this I hope he gets shanked in prison.

Yeah I was joking, well about the shanking part anyway. The thing is over this entire situation with Hernandez I always saw it as this horrific action by him in the community, and saw it as a negative for that and its impact on society and children, it was not until today that I really saw how badly he ****ed this organization on the field with his actions as well.

I thought Tompkins played better in the second half. He had a few good routes/catches.

This game was close because of fluke plays. Brady never loses the snap on those sneak plays, Ridley had a brain fart and left the ball on the ground and the Sudfeld drop that lead to the INT was a catch he should make, plus a ball that could have been thrown softer. That was 21 points right there.

I'm sure Thompkins will only get better, so will Sudfeld, so will everyone else on this team, it's Game 1.

My real concern is why is Blount returning kicks? We don't have anyone faster for that job? Boyce was hardly in the game today, I think he would have been a better option there.

If I wasn't STILL so enraged THIS is the post I would have made. It's like they WANTED to lose this game . LOOK at those gaffes...that TD off a Ridley fumble was stupidly ridiculous...THAT is a play LOSERS make. Fumble at the 2 foot line...UNFORGIVABLE screwup. CANNOT HAVE! ZERO sacks today...Kelly had 2 QB hits and Jones 1...that's IT. The rookie was 18 for 27..a 105 rating...this is HORRID!!!! ABOMINABLE!!! COMPLETELY UNSATISFACTORY!

I wasn't gloating. The other thread got locked before I could point out the Reiss article. This being the post-game thread, it seemed like the appropriate alternate thread for it.

My hatred for Hernandez grew.

I do not call for violence against anyone. Even when I say I root for the asteroid, I'm not actually rooting for anyone to get injured.

I'll put it this way. Before the game I was hoping AHern was locked up for life. But after seeing our poor options at Tight end without Gronk? I hope he's not only locked up, but they revoke his access to the raman noodle dispenser and also refrain from giving him seconds in regard to desert privileges.

If healthy it is pretty clear from what I have seen at this stage in their careers Amendola is a better player than Welker, as far as being a better player than Welker if we compared them both in their primes I would still give that edge to Welker.

At least one of those targets was a terrible Brady pass. Dierdorf was suggesting Brady was making a back shoulder throw to Thompkins. Bollix. Back heel throw would have been a better description.

I'm not going to read through the whole thread. I was hoping they'd do better, but am not all that surprised that we struggled. It's a testament to Tom Brady that we always expect him to go on seamlessly with whomever he's paired with.

The good news is that a month from now all anyone will remember is that it's a W, and at the same time, we got lots of lessons on where we need improvement.

We're 1-0, the best we could be, tied for first in the division. Go Pats!!!
