Ainge and Stevens have a problem they couldn't have anticipated at the beginning of the year - us. The hard core Boston pro sports fans are disgusted by this, and it isn't the results, it is the effort and the attitude. An average team that plays its heart out will get far more support from Boston fans than a good team with even average effort. This is a good team (individual talent) that refused to make the sacrifices to become a good team (as a team). They've lost us.
Ainge has to rebuild the team from the heart out, not just replace a player or two.
Just like the Pats prioritize college team captains, in this draft I'd like for the Celtics to prioritize the remarkable attitude shown by players such as Edwards from Purdue and the kids from UVa. I know, I know, they draft for talent, so I'm being naive. But a guy can hope.
I dunno. Seems like replacing the coach might be easier. I'm not sure I want him gone, but I also don't want this team to be a lower-tier team in the East for the next 3 years, until they have to rebuild again.
