Nantz & Simms

re: Nantz & Simms

I just don't get it really. I hear this from every other team's fans how Nance and Simms have a lovefest for Brady. Then it's people saying how Simms is in love with Manning. And then Broncos fans complaining how Collinsworth loves the Patriots. And then some fans say how Dierdorf is biased towards the Patriots. And then some pats fans say Dierdorf hates the patriots. And it keeps going and going and going....it's like a running joke...except it's not really funny.

Sometimes I think some fans just complain whenever something bad is said about their team or player, or good about the other team or player.

The only gripe I have with commentators, and this goes for any sport, is when they say stupid stuff. And don't know what they're talking about or say things that are in fact not true. I end up screaming at the tv calling them idiots.

Maybe I tune out all the ballwashing but the only one who ticked me off this season with stupid stuff was Dierdorf in the Texans game. And that commentator in the Browns game. I consider myself a novice when it comes to understanding football so if I know what they said was stupid...you know it's stupid!

re: Nantz & Simms

I do think Nantz loves Brady.

re: Nantz & Simms

I really wish 98.5 would sync their broadcast with HD TV feed. They could really pull in a lot more listeners.

Lets face it- the diehards that want to listen to Zo's analysis are going to watch the game on TV
Vincent? Is that you?

I believe the ability to do that was ruined after SB XXXVIII's halftime show. Now there's a delay on the TV broadcast that put the two out of sync.

re: Nantz & Simms

Pet peeve of mine but come on it is Nantz not Nance.

re: Nantz & Simms

Nance just wishes he was in Augusta, sitting in Butler Cabin and giving people green jackets. I have no support for this, but I think we all know it to be true.

Every year when the Masters rolls around and you hear Nantz' voice over on those pompous ads over soft music whispering "A tradition unlike any other!! The MASTERS!!!", you almost KNOW something is enlarging somewhere. Glad it wasn't just me who got this vibe.

I suppose there is a lot of truth to what you're saying here. There is probably some confirmation bias that makes one automatically think that the other guy is in it for the other team. This is probably because they have to be careful to praise both sides and we're used to local announcers who know they're broadcasting to a certain fanbase, so when we hear the other team praised, we automatically think they're rooting for the other team, when probably it isn't that way at all.

That being said, I can't see how ANYONE could think Dierdorf is pro-Pats. I've remembered watching games where he was announcing the Pats and more often than not, the Pats would pull out a close one and you could just HEAR an sense the deflation in Dierdorf's voice and intonation when that happened.

Obviously, I'm very glad he's retiring.

re: Nantz & Simms

This is why remote controls have MUTE buttons

Too bad it doesn't have a filter for "sounds of the game". I personally can't watch a game muted, even if I can't stand the broadcasters.

re: Nantz & Simms

Just because a commentator says something nice about the other team doesn't mean they hate the patriots....Nance and Simms are the best in the business right now. They were a little too much at times last week with Peyton. But, Brady and the patriots get their fair share of love from them.

re: Nantz & Simms

Lol at people who think the announcers are "against" their team.

I bet you feel like Zolak is a neutral announcer.

re: Nantz & Simms

I like Nance I think his good I do think Simms ball washes BB and Brady a lil to much but BB did help him get a Ring so I can understand it but IMO they are the best commentator team on TV

re: Nantz & Simms

Probably won't get a lot of "likes" from board members under 40, but that's awesome.

I savor furrowed brows* nearly as much as LOLs. Thanks for the props

*I wish Forehaid Poit'n could see this
