Name another head coach that says "That busted play, that was my fault"

What BB is saying is that they did not practice it well enough, hence it was his fault. It was obvious right away the D was caught flat footed - there was another player racing to the end zone who was also uncovered. Ball could have gone to either one of them. Definitely, coaches fault. Happens. Sometimes, they practice the defensive play perfectly and win the super bowl because of it and sometimes the concept is not put into practice perfectly and you give up a Kenny Stills touchdown.

If I understand what BB is saying HE didn't communicate the information about that formation and the rotation to the team correctly.

Greatest coach ever.

What's Patricia's job then?

Belichick runs an organization that is based around accountability. One of the best ways to foster that environment is by holding yourself accountable most of all.

The best leaders are hardest on themselves. If he wasn't holding himself accountable then his criticism of players during post game film review wouldn't hold any water with them. Because, honestly, who gives a **** about what someone who is constantly giving themselves a pass has to say about your performance?

BB's version of the old “its not you its me“ routine ..
to get everyone's attention to details going into playoffs

van noy on stills is a bad mismatch, even if he (van noy) didn't pass him off to a non-existent safety. so something wrong with the play call.
.

Right. A LB like Van Noy picking up a WR in coverage is bad coaching.

BB/Blackbeard or maybe Chung/DMC all screwed up.

What did you expect him to say?
"Van Noy let his man get behind him. It was Matt Patricia's fault for calling for a defense where a LB has to cover a receiver. Actually, if Jamie Collins were here, he has the closing speed to make that play."

If it were a complete screw-up by the player, he would have said. "We all have to do a better job. The players, the coaches, everybody." And then, you'd never hear the word Van Noy in a Patriots game again. This was clearly a coverage designed to take away a route that the Dolphins like to run, but the coverage had a flaw in it. Designing coverages that work is much tougher then designing variations on routes. It sounded to me like Belichick and the defensive coaches outsmarted themselves by leaving LB Van Noy out in space without help against a solid, quicker receiver. It may have also been something that could have worked if Van Noy were around for the offseason.

Let's give a little credit to Tomlin here..

He might not admit to anything ever being his fault, but at least he's willing to get on the field, stick out a leg and trip an opposing player when one of his plays gets busted.

It's not only football coaches. Most people who are in positions of authority are reluctant to take responsibility for failure.

I mean it was really the only bad play by the defense the whole game. Secondary took away their vertical game and the only thing they could do was run pick play crossing routes from bunch formations.

Ian still refuses to accept responsibility for my awful posting.

Van Noy man on Stills without help over the top is blown coverage or a bad call.

Like....um....politicians?

Even if he was here, he would have never could have covered Sills there. Miscommunication happens sometimes. Good teaching point.

You could use last year's AFCCG as an example of that.
