N’Keal Harry Requests Trade

Chad Jackson was bad. Couldnt spell C - A - T if you spotted him the C and the T.

Maroney was bad. When he was not dancing, Koolaid used to talk about watching cartoons and chowing on Lucky Charms breakfast cereal.

But Harry wins the Oscar for "Worst Belichick pick of all time" Most games you cant even tell that he dressed and is actually on the field.
Yep at least Maroney produced a bit in the reg season and in a couple of playoff games. Bad pick but not a total disaster.

Do N'kuthin Harry is a disaster.

He's remembered a lot more fondly if we win SB 42. He was a beast vs the Jags and Chargers.

Granted he faced a ton of nickel and dime defenses but I thought he ran hard during that stretch. Lowered his pads a few times and did a nice job of giving them a running game.

I would trade him to Arizona for Andy Isabella. Two busts from the same draft.

Meh. The blooms are off of that rose. Harry doesn’t have much value in the league but he still has more than Isabella. I’d rather see them try to pry Kirk away from the Cardinals with Harry plus a 2021 pick or a player. I still believe that Harry can be a useful (as opposed to an impact) player in the league if he regains his confidence and finds himself in the right system. Sadly, it just isn’t going to be with the Pats.

What would be great to find is a team that wants to take cheap fliers on wide receivers who also has a similar bust at corner. I feel like a reclamation project at outside CB is right in Bill's wheelhouse, and it's also an area where the team could use some extra depth competition. Anyone think of any off the top of their heads? 1st/2nd round CBs who haven't lived up to their billing?

For those who think that Harry will never, ever be a starting WR in the NFL and will be out of the league within two years, here are the year 1 and 2 stats for a current All-Pro WR. This guy dropped passes from an elite QB in key situations on the regular during those first two years. Should be fairly easy to figure out who it is.

It would be absolutely shocking if Harry approaches an All-Pro level but to declare that his career is essentially over is kind of silly.

Year 1 - Misses half of training camp, all but two preseason plays and the first 8 regular season games then is expected (by fans like me) to step in make an impact right away while still trying to learn the most complicated offense in the league. He predictably struggles and immediately loses confidence of his elite vet QB whose very strong preference is to only throw to other vets. In turn, his confidence is shot. Showed a brief flash of his potential when he makes a big boy play for a TD in a huge game against the Chiefs, only to be screwed by umpire incompetence (or worse, of you are a conspiracy theorist).

Year 2 - No offseason. Inadequate training camp with no preseason games. His quarterback displays mild-boggling incompetence in the passing game, characterized by inaccuracy and a consistent inability to read defenses or go through his progressions. Gets blown up by two brutal hospital passes, one of which leads to a concussion.

Can we at least agree that the conditions for success and improvement have been about as bad as it gets for him, while also not letting him off the hook for his (major) role in the lack of production?

I'm starting to come around to the idea that WR4-5 won't get many touches at all due to all the other catching options on the team. IMO if a trade for a player were to happen then CB might be better.

They absolutely won't.

I'm betting my life on them carrying 5RBs 1FB, 3TEs and 4WRs

4 WRs including Gunner, or are you counting him as a special teamer?

Heard this approach on one of the beat reporters websites. Is there any point in taking a WR in a trade for Harry if the new receiver would only be fighting for WR 4/5 or could even be a cut. Might be best trading for a greater position of need or a draft pick of any kind ?

Maybe BB can package the majority of the 2019 draft class, trade Harry, JoeJuan, Winovich, Cajuste, and he might be able to get a 7th round pick for all four of them.

Just keep Harris and Bailey and jettison the rest!

Actually I like Cowart, I still think he has a big upside for such a late round pick.

WR.

I think Guns is good for ~20 catches which is fine for a WR4

My guesstimate based on 500 targets.

Hunter- 70
Jonnu-70
Nelson-60
Jakobi-70
White-50
Bourne Ultimatum- 50
Guns- 30
Misc-100

I like Cowart too. Hes serviceable. He might be caught in a numbers game.

I'm not done w/ Wino. He needs to be an off-the-ball LB. None of this edge-setting stuff. Thats not his bag.

500 completions this year?

i keep forgetting we have 17 regular season games now... but 500 attempts strikes me as a lot with Cam under center... but not dying on a hill trying to defend that opinion

Here's the thing about Harry: we've seen a successful version of a player with his traits. Several of them in fact.

Look at Dez Bryant. He was never a technician as a route runner and didn't separate with speed. But he was extremely aggressive - he used his size to box out corners and was very good at attacking the ball. He bullied corners all over the field, so he didn't NEED separation on every play to be a high percentage target. And of course he killed it in the red zone.

Harry DOES NONE OF THESE THINGS. He has all the same physical traits and limitations as Bryant, but plays SOFT. He gets bulled by 5'10" 180lb corners in spite of being a jacked 6'3" 230lbs.

Young Dez Bryant would run the wrong route and get confused. He needed to improve things to be the really good starter he was for a while there. But you ALWAYS saw the aggression, the violent style of play that type of receiver has to have to become a major asset for a team. But for Harry that's been the exception, not the rule.

You’re a great poster Robert, but let’s leave the creative nicknames to some other folks please.
