I think the easiest way to do this is to look at free agents and the draft separately as if the order didn’t exist. For example what should we do in FA assuming we can’t draft a WR, and what should we look for in the draft assuming we have not filled any hills with free agents.
Since we have more cap space that we can probably use this seems like a fair starting point.

We have roughly $70,000,000 of cap space and $50-$55,000,000 usable in free agents

This is how I see our depth chart with players listed in CAPS as starters (not currently but ideally, ie Lowe would be a starter today but we dont want that to be the case, so he is listed as a backup.) Camp fodder is in parentheses).

OFFENSE
QB MAYE Milton Dobbs
No needs

RB STEVENSON Gibson need (Jennings, Ricci-fb)
Need a 3rd down back; fyi I like Jennings, hope he is a practice squad guy and injury reserve

TE. HENRY hooper (Bell, Westover, need)
Need competition for TE3

WR NEED NEED Douglas, Boutte Hollins (Polk, Baker, Bourne, Jiles, Jackson,)
Need 2 starters. It’s actually a decent group if you add 2 starters, we are pretty good in the 3-6 slots. Of course abysmal if 3-6 ends up being 1-4

LT NEED Lowe (Jacobs, Jones)
Need a starter

RT MOSES Wallace
I wonder if Wallace could play LG? We really need camp bodies at OT btw

C NEED need (J Andrews, Brown, Smith)
We need a starter and a backup (could ne a camp fodder guy)
If we move Strange here, the need become LG

LG STRANGE L Robinson (T Robinson, Cotton,)
Again if strange ends up at C the need is here instead

RG ONWENU Schweitzer (Sow)
Schweitzer can backup all 3 IOL

DEFENSE
43 DT/34 DE WILLIAMS BARMORE WHITE Tonga, need, need (Pharms, Johnson, Roy, Harris)
Base should include 3 of these sub packages 2. Need could be filled from camp fodder but really don’t like any of those guys. Really need a solid guy behind White playing over the T in base)

EDGE LANDRY need Jennings chaison Tavai (Leo, )
We really need another sub pass rusher. I listed Tavai here because he has played in the edge at times and seems a better fit there in MVs system.

LB
BENTLEY SPILLANE Tavai need need (Ellis, Mapu, Rice,Jacobs, Parker)
I think Mapu becomes a LB.. not unreasonable he and Ellis could fill the needs

CORNER
GONZO DAVID MJONES Austin, need (Dial, Bolden, Battle, James, )
Add a CB5 and let as many of the fodder guys who can earn a spot with sts be more depth

SAFETY
DUGGAR PEPPERS Epps Hawkins Schooler (Pettus, Mapu, Perry)
I’m ok with this group I expect us to play substantially more 3 corner nickel base than 3 S
K NEED Romo
P BARRINGER
LS CARDONA

So while upgrading any slot is always welcome these are the needs I see starters in CAPS and depth.

My wish list roughly in order

Free Agency (without considering the draft)
OFFENSIVE LINE.
After the last 2 year we just cannot afford to mess this up again.
We have 3 capable starters at least average for their position and each could be above average this year.
We have a backup (Schweitzer) who is capable of filling in as a starter.
We need 3 more starting caliber guys.

We must have a LT.
We need to sign Cam Robinson. If we also draft a LT I don’t care, we need to have one in case we don’t get one in the draft and if we sign him and he’s one and done and we eat some cap I don’t care, we have cap to spare.

We must have another Starter at LG or C
Brandon Scherff is a solid vet who should have a couple of years left
Tevin Jenkins, Liam eichenberger, Andre James, Daniel Brunskill
are options.

We should add another vet backup capable of starting.

Wallace and L Robinson stick as developmental guys

WR We need 2 receivers who are better than Boutte. I don’t care if they are young, old, tall, short, free agents or trades. We need to have better receivers for Maye to throw to. If that means an aging player like Cooper who could be one and done, so be it. We need a professional receiver capable of threatening by defense, in fact we need 2. I don’t see any on the roster. A trade may be the best move.

EDGE I like the shot a Chiasson. I’d like to see another. How about Matt Judon? Lesser role, smaller contract, just be a designated pass rusher.

3rd down back. Either sign one or sign a RB2 and make Gibson the 3rd down back. Even though both RBs are capable 3rd down backs I think a RB dedicated to 3rd down would be best.

DL/LB I think there is a good opportunity to bring in veterans at a reasonable cost who are likely to beat out the guys we have.

Corner. We need 5 reliable if the nickel corner is going to play 80% of the snaps. I think Austin can be one but I don’t like any of the others and would prefer a veteran (or 2)

DRAFT
It hope without saying that how we fill needs in FA impacts the draft, but really even if we add free agents we have important long term needs.

I think unless we can’t get a good offer, we have to trade down from 4.
I’d like to see a move like down to the teens picking up a 2 a later pick and 2 next year.

We go LT with the pick. Simmons is probably smartest but it would be interesting to take Campbell, assuming we signed Robinson and let him play LG this year.

The dilemma is we need a WR and I don’t love any of the WRs in this draft. The best fit is probably Egbuka so I would trade up into the first and take him

That would likely leave us with a 2 and a 3 to use on an Edge and either DT OL DL or CORNER

Day 3 picks ideally include RB, S, LB

Sums it up quite well. Not gonna lie I have thought about judon too. But i definitely think we will be drafting an edge guy and a dl, Supposedly a good draft for both. The defense is very close imo.

Offense is a little tougher. 2 gaping holes at LT and WR. One probable hole at LG or C whichever one Strange is not playing. I feel pretty confident they can address LG and LT. Wr could be hard but there will be options, especially if theyre willing to stick their neck out and do a big trade.

Jedrick Wills is also an option...

Good job Ring
I like Will Campbell and Ozzy Trapilo in the draft
Brandin Cooks and draft another WR
Also would not mind trading for Brandon Aiyuk if it is not more than a 4th
Need a RB. If Gibson is not our 3rd down back then we need to draft one. McDaniels system thrives on one

So basically we need to fill 4 critical holes and a add a lot of depth and we have one draft pick that we can really count on and even that pick could likely come from a questionable talent pool. Free agency has been picked to the bone and the draft sucks this year.

There are plenty of free agents. Building a successful team isn’t about finding an all pro at every position. The Eagles won the SB and they had players that weren’t superstars. The chiefs came close to undefeated and had major hiles and a mediocre offense.

Let’s say we use the first round pick on a LT (ideally after a trade down)
We sign Scherff to play LG.
We trade up into the late first and draft Egbuka
We sign Cooper or trade for Aiyuk

We still have millions to sign depth and there are plenty of available depth guys that would improve our roster.

What’s the problem?

For starters the problem is Aiyuk doesn't want to play here, there isn't a starting LT in the draft this year, and you're assuming we can just trade up from 38 and fill WR1.

Aiyuk doesn’t have much choice, he has a long term contract. There are other WRs to sign or trade

It’s a pretty basic assumption that you can trade from 38 into the late 1st round.

These were just an example of one way, there are many.

But, if you don’t like this plan, why don’t you sack up and name the plan that you think would have been better that they didn’t do.
Otherwise you are just being a whiny *****.

The main problem is that I bet it is a lot more complicated than just typing it out on a message board.
Things like negotiating contracts ($$ and length), other players feelings if we overpay, character and work ethic of some of the players mentioned, players might not want to play in NE, injuries for some of the players you mentioned that we might not know about, etc.

But I do appreciate you laying it out in a very simple way to better see what folks think are the solutions to quickening/starting the rebuild. Thanks.

Sure charting a plan and executing a plan are different things.

I don’t see anything in there that is unreasonable. There are variations to adjust to any hiccups and of course you never get 100% of what you plan.

That’s why it’s called a wish list.

Thats the problem I don't see a viable plan that doesn't rely on major assumptions.

The only plan I have is to hope Hunter lasts to 4. Then we at least have a viable prospect at one of those critical spots. This would allow us to fill the other WR spot with one of the few remaining decent WR free agents and not put too much on their shoulders.

This also probably leaves us without an LT but we are already probably here anyway since the draft is void. Face it we are likely starting Lowe again but maybe if we can sign one or 2 of the decent interior OLs left then Lowe can play better with 4 better OLs to his right.

Maybe we can get a decent OL at 38 to help the depth we need on Oline but expecting a starting LT to just appear is completely wishful thinking at this time.

And if Carter or neither fall to 4 then the offense is in even more trouble.

I don't know why you're getting angry at me for whining about what is obvious. Actually I get that you're angry at my whining but insisting I come up with some alternative plans like I have some magic button ignores the problem that the answers just aren't there and we are in terrible shape on offense because of it.

You are whining without offering any alternative.

They have done a great job getting to this point and have more work to do.

You called them, what was it, negligent?
If you want to criticize that’s fine. If you want to **** all over every idea for no real reason, go for it
But if you can’t offer what would have been better, you add nothing to this board or conversation.
Until you do I’m not going to respond to you any longer because it’s a waste of time. I’d ask you don’t respond to my posts either because I have no interest in listening to complaining for the sake of complaining.

Take notes guys this how you get Ring 6 to leave you alone.

To your next point I'll respond to any post with my opinion regardless of what you ask. If your posting wishful thinking I'll point it out with a stupid rainbow sherbet meme if you don't want to see it you can block me but you don't get to just ask for me not to respond to your BS. Not every response is to meant to get in endless back and forth like you seem to think but sometimes it's just to point out something to the rest of the board. Or in this case for me it's just to air out some frustrations. If I thought there was a viable alternative I wouldn't be so frustrated and I would have just posted about it with my normal optimism.

I am not interested in what you have to say, so I will be ignoring your posts.
Since I am not interested in what you say I have asked that you do not respond to me, but you feel the need to talk to air.

I got you...

Yup, we need to sign some free agents before the draft and agree that we need to trade down from #4 if we can.

I think the problem right now is...specific to Cam Robinson...the Dan Moore deal really screwed the market for us. Not sure Cam is worth 20.5M/year....but I'd do a 22M guarantee on a 2 year deal...and eat the dead cap money next year if he doesn't work out. Ditto for guys like Cooper, K. Allen, and Diggs....I'd be OK with signing them all, but don't want to break the bank for those guys....and by breaking the bank...I mean LONG TERM. If we wanna burn short term cap $$$...sure! I just don't want to be stuck with these guys in 2026-2028.

This morning Reiss' echoed our concerns about the lack of FA signings on the offensive side of the ball....we have only signed a RT, a back up IOLman, and a #4 WR/ST guy on that side of the ball so far...

I got you...
Should get more to nice down to 21 are you getting 2026 first?
Would you trade 38 and a 3rd to move up for Egbuka?

Moore was the first to sign so he has a market.
Robinsons market isn’t Moores because teams looking for LT have been eliminated.
We may not have much competition. Who else is he negotiating with?
He could end being a one year prove it deal and Vrabel looks like a genius

Should get more to nice down to 21 are you getting 2026 first?
Would you trade 38 and a 3rd to move up for Egbuka?
Yeah there's nobody with multiple 1sts.

No because I feel like there isn't a big difference between Egbuka and Higgins.
