Mayo interview with Curran

He's acting like a CEO instead of a coach. His Optum stuff means nothing when it comes to football and game days.
He didn’t do **** at Optum, other than to say too many white men had jobs there. He’s a fraud. And, he’s not acting like a CEO either. A good one actively oversees all aspects of the business, not just “vision”. The saddest part is that he doesn’t understand how much he is falling short. I guarantee you he was considered a joke at Optum, the spawn of Kraft’s nepotism after their romantic journey to Israel.

The scary part is when you peel the curtain back of ordinary American life and see a whole legion of these functionaries just getting along to make their pot of gold, and they sound just like that. From top management at corporations to consultants to college administrators; it's nothing but mealy-mouthed non-sense. The problem is that when their bosses open their mouths and say even dumber stuff, you can appreciate why the rest of the Yes Men do it.

How many posts are you going to make with this racial angle? I've read through several of them just hoping you'd stop it. Is it going to be interminable?

What Mayo said there was awful and racist, singling them out simply because of their color. Those men have newborns, wives, kids in schools, mortgages to pay... Can you imagine the fear there when Bob Kraft's nepo friend -- who has his ear -- brought that one out? I can't abide racism in any form, and Jerod Mayo definitely doesn't get a pass because he's black. It sounds like you are defending him. Are you? His racist comment must be called out for what it is and vilified. AND, it gives you a window into who Jerod Mayo is, and what he's all about. He's a terrible human being. So no, I'm not going to stop. I'm going to call it out whenever I see a connection to it. Once he's ****-canned I'll stop.

It's amazing how much sports talk has deteriorated in our lifetimes.
They have all turned into nattering nabobs of negativity... lots of controversy, little content.

I could give countless examples why you're wrong but there's no use arguing with a fundamentally flawed perspective. If this was the NBA, perhaps. Enjoy the futility while Mayo gets his on-the-job training.

Since the 23 team was coached by a GOAT and 24 a rookie, with all rookies for a staff, I think the 24 team has done worse than expected but not by much. I'm willing to give Mayo more time.

Coaches don't win games, players do.
Coaches can only lose them.

Do you seriously believe that NFL players just show up and don’t to learn, develop, improve, get smarter, study film, improve technique, drill to improve their skill sets, work on strength and conditioning? Do you really believe that players who are literally given assignments on every single play function equally regardless of what that assignment is? Do you really believe that the design of that play and the timing and situation use of it has no impact on player performance? Virtually every single thing a player does in practice and a game is dictated by coaches.

Wolf's draft pick mistakes have a 4 year contract. Essentially every draft mistake is a 4 year mistake. Mayo's mistakes don't rob the team of a cost effective 4 year player. Wolf should be the first to go.
No GM candidate worth their salt is going to come here without getting to choose their own head coach, especially when the current one may go down as one the most undeserving and unprepared of all-time.

There’s virtually no scenario when Wolf is fired without Mayo also being fired.

I like him as a guy, and liked him as a player, he is simply in over his head. The players on the team obviously like him. If he is retained for a second year and they replace Covington with an experienced competent DC, and Mayo really improves, I suppose there is a chance that this team can get turned around. Maye looks better weekly and I also think AVP is trending up the last few weeks. Not perfect but he is improving and his offense has not been a dumpster fire by any means. Continuity for Maye would be nice.

I would personally replace the whole coaching staff, and probably the front office as well, but at a bare minimum the DC definitely needs to be changed.

I don’t like him as a guy. I think he’s an absolute snake who schemed for years to take Belichick’s job.

I had to stop watching the Patriots earlier this year because I found myself taking joy in seeing Mayo lose. I hope I can come back as a fan one day soon.

The poster you’re arguing with has been the Godfather of the Anti-Belichick mafia for years; of course, he thinks none of those things matter.

It’s not unusual for a GM to come into a dysfunctional situation and let the HC stay in place year one while he starts the correction process then bring his own guy in year 2. Its almost like a free year to clean house and get a jump on fixing things for the plan that really starts in year 2.

My reason is that I don't value coaching as much as most fans. I've come to believe that talent evaluation is far more important than coaching techniques. Those have been around for a century with a few tweaks that get figured out in time.
I think it’s the only sport that coaching plays a big factor in the outcome of games. A few examples.

Giants and Bills Super Bowl.
Pats and Rams first Super Bowl.
And I hate to say it but the two Pats and Giants Super Bowls.

Yours is a minority opinion for good reason. Coaching didn't arguably spell the difference in New England winning Super Bowl 36? Or Super Bowl 49? Guess again.

Players succeed under coaches who can properly prepare and put them in position to win.

This should end the debate about Coaching. The 90’s Cowboys would’ve won at least two more Super Bowls had Johnson stayed.

There really is no debate, just one guy who doesn't understand the pro game very well. Good video, BTW, thanks for posting it.

The offensive side doesn't have rookies, and neither does the defensive backfield.

If you can't see the huge difference on defense between this year and last year, I can't help you so there's really no point in bothering

Coaches can and have been carried by great players. Great players make the coach’s job easier.

There’s never been a team where terrible players were carried by their coach to greatness. That isn’t a thing. Doesn’t happen in this league or any sport.

Mayo is like the anti Dan Campbell.

Campbell is ultra aggressive, completely engaged in the sidelines, always takes responsibility for his team.
