The trips sets they can run in the red area with him, Gronk, Cooks/Hogan/Amendola should be lethal.
Imagine if edelman were still playing...damn.

From what I understand, the rest of the money they owe him this year is pennies and there is no guaranteed money left on his deal.Agreed... I wouldn’t have thought they would want that contract.
Per Miguel, essentially no cost ($723k vs FA deal) if released before next year and gain control of player why cannot negotiate with another team.
Salary cap impact of Packers waiving Martellus Bennett and possible return to Patriots
I and alot of others are not.
Allen's been crap, and the TE3 has 3 total catches on the season, as a pass catching TE. Bennett's been a disappointment in Green Bay, but has still been better than either N.E. backup. He may have a shoulder issue, though.
"Allen's been good blocking!" isn't at all meaningful (as well as being generous grading) with a team that historically doesn't mind putting an extra OL on the field as a TE in run situations. Start with that as an honest baseline, then discuss the idea of Bennett.
Bennett's just as good a blocker as Allen. It's not like you have to cut him to pick up Bennett anyways. Stick Hollister on the practice squad. He's shown nothing to indicate he's anything more than a below replacement-level stiff.
thank god no more Allen unless 3 TE at the goal line. imagine these 3 tight ends blocking at the goal line
I just figured BB would want to be completely free of the GB complaint about that deal, and to take a look at the shoulder before signing him. And, given how low the team was on the waiver poll, it made sense to wait. But, it seems that either BB thinks it's worth the gamble, or he's heard things through the grapevine.
Too much we don't know there but I agree with how you framed it. Bennett was going to be inactive had he stayed. We should learn more starting with injury reports ("Limited- shoulder"?).I just figured BB would want to be completely free of the GB complaint about that deal, and to take a look at the shoulder before signing him.
