Sweet... Get his talkative asz to Denver for Saturday night!

[QUOTE="KontradictioN, post: 5139563, member: 5752"This was an absolute no-brainer. Have to assume he's healthy. This offense's red zone problems, so long as both he and Gronk remain healthy, are fixed.[/QUOTE]

But how would they know that?

Just saw on NFLN. Crazy. But I like it

****ing love it. Even if he is 70-80% that is much better than that bum, Dwayne Allen.

Hopefully Marty gets a second wind being back here and plays his ass off for his final run.

Agreed... I wouldn’t have thought they would want that contract.
From what I understand, the rest of the money they owe him this year is pennies and there is no guaranteed money left on his deal.

Dwayne Allen can really be a decoy now if he can't get open in the heavy sets he stinks he should get lost in the shuffle.

Stoked, would have bet money that it wouldn't happen based on a gut feeling. Stoked to be wrong!

Per Miguel, essentially no cost ($723k vs FA deal) if released before next year and gain control of player why cannot negotiate with another team.
Salary cap impact of Packers waiving Martellus Bennett and possible return to Patriots

I and alot of others are not.

I just figured BB would want to be completely free of the GB complaint about that deal, and to take a look at the shoulder before signing him. And, given how low the team was on the waiver poll, it made sense to wait. But, it seems that either BB thinks it's worth the gamble, or he's heard things through the grapevine.

Allen's been crap, and the TE3 has 3 total catches on the season, as a pass catching TE. Bennett's been a disappointment in Green Bay, but has still been better than either N.E. backup. He may have a shoulder issue, though.

"Allen's been good blocking!" isn't at all meaningful (as well as being generous grading) with a team that historically doesn't mind putting an extra OL on the field as a TE in run situations. Start with that as an honest baseline, then discuss the idea of Bennett.

Bennett's just as good a blocker as Allen. It's not like you have to cut him to pick up Bennett anyways. Hopefully they'll just stick Hollister on the practice squad. He's shown nothing to indicate he's anything more than a below replacement-level stiff.

So is he still under contract for two more years?

Bennett's blocking ability depends on the health of that shoulder. The thread argument about Allen's blocking was based upon that shoulder being a legit problem.

thank god no more Allen unless 3 TE at the goal line. imagine these 3 tight ends blocking at the goal line

Allen will continue to do what he is asked to and be part of Pats offence.
Marty is a ? at this point. Id be happy if he can recover, re-focus and be available as insurance for Gronk and possibly significant add. playoff wrinkle.

Wow.
Still a physical to pass potentially.
Could be a magic reunion.

A 50% Bennet
t > 100% no hands Allen.

Too much we don't know there but I agree with how you framed it. Bennett was going to be inactive had he stayed. We should learn more starting with injury reports ("Limited- shoulder"?).
