Not only that, but I was in the color guard for 4 years (part of the marching band). We were okay, not great, when I went there and at least have always been competitive. It makes me sad that they have been so bad these last few years. They are trying to move up in football importance and are building a new stadium, but the program is suffering terribly. I hope they can recover from the rep they are now being tagged with. I don't blame them for trying to cash in on the popularity of football. They are a huge school and should be able to field a competitive team. Why are these transition years so bad? Bad coaching? No recruiting? Games too far from the school? Probably a combo of all. Games were always packed to the gills when I was there. They should bus students down to Gillette during this transition time. Hopefully once the new stadium is finished they will clean house and start over with a brand new program.
Losing 24-14 to a visiting Maine team??? (I never knew they had football in Maine)
Relying on Ian to bring his entire family to double the home game attendance????
Someone is not doing their job there.
About the size crowd at a Tufts game
Pretty sure UMass isn't the best place to get a real saturday college football experience
take the trip down to Rutgers/Penn State (for a real CFB experience in the north east). Nothing like a big SEC game though.
Not sure the Harvard basketball players that got caught cheating had that message, though.
They're just not ready for primetime, and were unwise to promote themselves into the big leagues.

You never knew they had football at Maine? If you lived in a place like Alabama or Texas then I'd be inclined to believe you, but....seriously....that's just dumb. They are certainly not a juggernaut, but they have had a couple of good teams over the years and have put a fair number of guys(players & coaches) into the NFL, including the New England Patriots. Maybe you haven't noticed, but they're pretty legit this year as well. They put up a good fight at Northwestern this year.
Idk if putting up a good fight against Northwestern is really a good example
