Malcolm Butler sort of talks about his SB benching

And Butler allowed league worst in yards and TD’s allowed by a CB… teams picked on him.

They also had Stephon Gilmore as a stud on one side so that mitigated Butlers horrid play. If Eric Rowe wasn’t injured and available until late in the season there’s a strong possibility Butler would have been replaced sooner.

There’s defense gave up a historically awful Super Bowl performance because Hightower, Alan Branch, Jon Jones and Patrick Chung (in game) missed the Super Bowl with injuries.

Football is won in the trenches… a CB who sucked all that season and for the next three years before retiring wasn’t helping.
Well he wasn’t helping because he wasn’t playing. You’re saying he wouldn’t have helped if he did play. Which we will never know. Here’s what we do know. They made it to the Super Bowl with Butler playing more snaps than any other defensive player, and they lost the Super Bowl with him on the bench. That’s what we know.

That’s not exactly it for me. I don’t care about Malcolm Butler at all.
Malcolm shouldn't have done what he did and put Bill in that position. Odd to blame Bill the way you do and not care about Malcolm at all.

So? Why would Kraft fabricate that in his own documentary? why would Danny Amendola still be pissed off about it even to this day?
Kraft funded an entire documentary suggesting the person most singularly responsible for the dynasty barely had anything to do with it.

He also shirked his responsibility in letting Tom Brady go, in short he used Bill as a scapegoat for everything that went wrong but nothing that went right in a desperate attempt to make the Hall Of Fame.

Amendola has been salty about Bill not paying him and costing him a ring in 2018. He’s almost as big a BB hater as you and Bob.

That doesn't really answer why Kraft would lie and completely make up what he said that Butler was benched because of something personal between Bill and Butler.

"The person most singularly responsible for the dynasty" uh that would be Tom Brady not your hoodied hero. The winning completely stopped when he left.

Bill lost that game by keeping Butler on the bench in favor of a defensive alignment that got clowned by Nick Foles. Nick. Foles. Who else would I blame? Isn't BB supposed to be a defensive genius?

@Ian @Ross12 since this thread seems to have split into two topics I wonder if the Butler benching conversation should be moved into the Bill megathread?

I blame Butler.

But I also don't run around holding a grudge like you do with Bill. Despite Malcolm's failings that week he's still a hero in my book. (See how that works)

Because Eric Rowe played as well as Butler had at any point that season. Butler got lit up by the Dolphins and blamed his defensive coaches, beyond sucking he was grousing about his contract. He was a distraction all season.

The mistake Belichick made was not trading Butler to the Saints that preseason when they offered a 2nd… benching a crappy corner had nothing to do with the SB loss.

Bob made up a lot of garbage that wasn’t true.

Bill drafted and developed Brady into what he eventually became.

Facts suck for you…

Not a grudge. That damaged Bill in my view but as I said many times he lost me for good with the Patricia fiasco.

He lost you for good but no grudge, right got it you're a clown.

Again doesn't answer my question why Bob would make up that it was something personal with Bill that kept Butler on the bench.

Also the record shows Brady won a Super Bowl without Bill and your hoodied hero has a .426 w-l record post Brady. That's absolutely pathetic.

Read it and weep.

I already told you why, the documentary was to shine Bob’s image and get him into the HOF. It didn’t work because the fanbase took the omission and backhanded insults to BB as a negative. Bob just looked petty and had to issue an apology.

Kevin Durant went to Golden State to win a ring… it’s easy for a player to move to a contender.

All Tampa needed was a QB and a left tackle…. they had money for Tom, the best receiving weapons in the NFL, Giselle wanted to live in Florida and they had a high first round pick to draft Tristen Wirfs.

Considered I said Tampa was the perfect landing spot for Tom before he decided to leave it’s a bit sad you’re in denial. But hey… a BB hater has to hate.

Saving you more typing time: He didn't make it up. And the reason BB benched Butler at the last minute wasn't a good enough reason to do it in a Super Bowl. Period. This was the Super Bowl not a 1pm game in late October.

Butler sucked in 2017, Butler admitted he sucked in 2017… see the interview I provided you above.
"Contender"
The best roster in the NFL outside of the QB position. They needed a QB.

Learn the game.

If someday something comes out where I feel that the unspeakable actions of Malcolm Butler justified throwing a Super Bowl away I’ll be sure to change my mind.

Bill's classy and seems like he'll be taking it to grave. Malcolm hasn't said anything either so it would seem like he's content to not let it out which should tell you something.

Threw the SB?
