Malcolm Butler Says Super Bowl Benching Documentary/Book Coming

Butler gave up the most touchdowns and yards of any starting CB in the NFL that season... he wouldn't have helped at all.
Doesn't sound like the 2017 defense was very good. I thought you told us that Brady had the best defenses for two decades.

The 2017 defense ended the regular season having given up the 6th fewest points in the league.

Unfortunately their single best defender in Hightower, their 350 pound nose tackle Alan Branch, their best slot CB in Jon Jones and their SS Pat Chung all got hurt before or during the playoffs.

Winning a ring is hard, jokers like you think all it takes is the best QB. Then when he throws for 500 yards, 3 TD’s and still loses… suddenly it’s everyone else’s fault. Logic isn’t your strong suit is it…

I bet the Eagles didn't have any major injuries in 2017. Poor Bill. He needs more of your excuses.

That's a load of BS. You play him one game and let him go in free agency as they did. Would not have changed anything except winning one more SB.
The very idea that you can get away with BS before a Super Bowl is what loses games. And Super Bowls.

If a coach isn't consistent, the players know it.

I mean, you must love Rex Ryan

Matt Millen won’t retire with the most wins in NFL history and two fists full of rings.

Matt Mllen would have kicked a field goal on 4th and 13 from the Giants 32 yard line and would have started Malcolm Butler. Unless you have any insight (you don't) into these two specific decisions, being discussed in this thread, go back to your BB finger porn site.

BB drafted Tom Brady.

Belichick made it clear that **** (Rehbein) was "the guy that's most responsible" for Brady being a Patriot.

They didn’t. Before Wentz got hurt he was the front runner in Vegas to win MVP. Foles didn’t miss a beat, they were a great team.

It takes a great team to win a ring. In the history of pro football there are numerous examples of average/good QB’s winning rings… there’s not one example of an average team winning a ring.

One CB who gave up the most passing yards and TD’s among all starters in the league wouldn’t have prevented the Eagles from rolling up almost 200 rushing yards on us. But the whiners gotta whine…

Belichick hired **** Rehbein to be his QB coach and sent him down to scout two QB’s before the draft, Brady and Rattay. Belichick is the head of all football operations and makes all personnel related decisions.

In short…. BB drafted Tom Brady.

Facts suck for you.

Matt Millen wasn’t a coach and didn’t win… BB drafted Brady and did win. Go back to making out with your Brady body pillow.

BB has players take a **** in a different hotel toilet to try to gain every miniscule advantage, but benching a guy who played 98% of the snaps wouldn't possibly move the needle in a game where the team set historic records for yards allowed against a backup QB.

Sounds like excuses. How can losing a few players to injuries, which happens to every team every season cause a team from allowing the 6th fewest points to the most points in Belichick's playoff history? I thought you said it takes a team. Are you implying that certain players on a team are more valuable than others? Your logic isn't sound.

He sucked all season, he was lucky BB didn’t demote him before that. The guy was crying about his contract because they gave his money to Gilmore… who frankly deserved that type of payday.

BB did screw up with Butler, the Saints offered a 2nd round pick before the season began. Bill should have traded him then and gotten something for him.

Yeah… the best defenders on the team were injured is an excuse.

Try breathing through your nose instead of your mouth, you get more oxygen to the brain that way.

Demote him for Bademosi? Rowe? Get Richards in there with more big nickel? Why do you suppose Bill didn't do that all year? Just "luck"?

We won a ring with Troy Brown starting at nickel corner. Football is won in the trenches. Alan Branch would have helped substantially more than Butler… Butler sucked all season.

One more sucky CB wasn’t going to change anything. Once Gilmore was manned up on Alshon Jeffrey the only passing Foles did in the second half was to their TE Ertz anyhow. He was only open because Pat Chung left the game was a broken arm. They rushed for almost 200 yards on us, wouldn’t have happened with Branch and Hightower in there. Woulda, shoulda, coulda…

It’s hard to win a ring, the Eagles were just better that day.
