Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

You people do realize, don't you, that you are not compelled to open this thread if you don't want to open it, right?
If you do, then STFU and leave the rest of us alone. We'll turn the page when we're feckin ready to turn the feckin page.
I bet you guys would live with a divorced wife for 30 more years just to argue who screwed things up.

So if it was preparation, what was different about this game plan vs. any other game plan that Butler had been a part of? And don't forget that Butler DID practice in the lead up to the Super Bowl.

I guess they wanted to stop the run and get pressure on the QB. I guess they thought Rowe was the better match up. I don't really know.

I don't think he was being punished rather just pushed down the depth chart.

They did neither. That calls for a halftime adjustment.

I highly doubt it.

I don't think he was being punished rather just pushed down the depth chart.

Then it was still a massive mistake.

Well pushing him down the depth chart did nothing to improve the run d and the trickle down effect it had in the secondary hurt the pass d.

Who’s judgment do you trust?
What coach/gm is better than Belichick?
I don't know about the other 31 (except for perhaps Mr Pumped & Jacked), so I can't comment on trusting their judgements; but I stopped trusting the Naked Emperor's judgement 5-1/2 months ago. He's feckin Dead to me.

As for what HC is better, I suppose, off the top of my head, I would make a run at Sean Payton when Billy leaves/is fired. As for which GM is better, I'll conduct a thorough search as soon as I'm allowed to fire his arrogant, incompetent ass.

Where would you put butler in terms of importance when it game to the defensive players last season heading into the playoffs? You can probably put him top 3. The pass rush couldn’t get there and this team was left to be destroyed. Butler just changes your defense and it doesn’t create mismatches all over the field. You have eric Rowe as your 3rd corner.

he sheds some tears during the anthem
No no, you’re not allowed to just state the facts neutrally like that that and say he was crying, you have to say that he “melted down.”

That, along with “not 100% dialed in” is part of the magical thinking that has to happen to try and justify the decision. Still doesn’t work of course, but that’s the thinking. So remember that in the future, tears=“melted down.”

Wow. I guess you don’t like winning Super Bowls

They can say he wasn’t punished, he just wasnt dialed in enough to play any snaps on defense but deemed ok for special teams duty.

Then I heard he may have been left in special teams by mistake, in turn cutting down the man who’s decision they supported in the first place showing lack of organizational control.

Then they site sources from a few guys that said they knew he would play a lesser role. And some players knew nothing at all and were caught offguard by the whole deal. Again shows how poor this situation was handled.

I’m not that far down on the side of firing belichick (he’s still the greatest coach in my eyes) but at this point there’s no denying he handled the situation poorly.

Butlers own words were that he wasn’t focused and dialed in. That’s a cardinal sin.

As to melting down what else would you call it when a grown man cries his eyes out because he isn’t starting?

If you don’t know why he benched butler you can’t say it was handled poorly.
I Know for a fact that butler handled preparing for the SB poorly because he said it himself.

I’d call it getting the news way later than he should’ve. Like news that his lesser role had changed to no role.

Actually, you don’t know why he was crying. But a player crying obviously doesn’t justify benching him for an entire game and throwing a Super Bowl away.

He was crying during the anthem.I’ve seen knowshon Moreno’s crocodile tears during an anthem. And he had a monster game that day.

Yes he does, he has all the answers.

So now you are deciding what belichicks policy should be for announcing lineups?

It’s most likely his role didn’t change from what it was in practice but when that happened he acted like a child, hence the tears and the benching.
If he had only taken the SB seriously and focused in practice and committed to the team none of this would have to have happened.

Nope but a reaction that ends with him crying probably told his coach that the player whose head and heart weren’t in the preparation for the game wasn’t going to have his head and heart in the game either

Oh I’m sorry Andy, if it helps you out let’s just accept your paragraph that begins with “it’s most likely” as absolute fact. Only your opinions matter on this board correct?

And where did I say what belichicks policy should be? I can’t be of the opinion that the whole situation was handled poorly? Is that not allowed on Andy’s message board?
