Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

choosing to throw on the goal line instead of handing it off to lynch is a bad decision.

This was covered elsewhere, but Hawks were down to 1 timeout. It was second down, so they could only stop the clock after a run once. Throwing the ball against a goalline package meant to stop the run made perfect sense (especially because Seattle had 3 receivers on the field).

Anything that deserves a benching for the entire game on defense deserves a benching for the entire game outright.
I am a card carrying member of Team BB and I place him on a pedestal just above our QB.....so it pains me to agree 100% with Kontra's spot-on statement above. Allowing Butler to play even 1 play on special teams undercut BB's credibility and placed him in a vulnerable position to be second guessed for the rest of eternity. And since he chooses to sidestep the issue, the mystery of his decision continues to take on a life of its own.
If I was a 2017 Patriot and never received an honest explanation of what went down that compelled the coach to play for the SB title short handed, I'd certainly have less faith in the HC going forward...but that's me. The fact that no player has leaked out the insider details is telling......and worrying. "You don't need to know"

That’s not a theory. That’s whining.
Why did Butler not play?

Whining is stating that BB had a bad game?
As for butler, No one knows why, but I’m not the one passing around theories like its candy.

If Bill Belichick felt the need to explain his personel decisions to his team he wouldn’t be Bill Belichick.
There is a lot of info out there saying players knew, including a tweet from Giardi quoting a player saying the benching “wasn’t without merit”.
The fact that the team keeps internal things internal is a part of why they are successful. Lamenting that it hasn’t been publicly aired is like complaining that Belichick doesn’t give extensive detail on injuries in his press conferences

This will more than likely be addressed in the first team meeting. Belichick doesn't care about the fans' opinion on it. But he'll bury the hatchet with the team and clear things up so they can move on and into 2018.

So you have no idea why something happened, but know it was wrong. Brilliant.

An RPO on the +1 yardline. Lol

With Russell Wilson and his threat of the run sure. Like Tebow did get the defense to commit to the qb draw and hit them with the jump pass in the back of the endzone. Or at worst throw it out of the endzone.

This is an example of why I say your football opinions have no value to me. There is so much wrong with this I don’t know where to start.

Someone please close this stupid thread

You have no idea why butler was benched, no one does. If we did this thread would’ve died a long time ago.

If it’s opinions your after then yes it was wrong to bench butler on defense to let him play ST. And when the personnel was getting thrashed it was wrong to keep butler on the sidelines, they were scoring on us anyway, mine as well have taken your chances with your best players.

I am so tempted ....
It's like zombies gnawing on rotted flesh ...
It happened ... it's over ... 2018 season is here ... turn the page.

You didn't create the mess. Most of the stink is being caused by the buffoons that insist on turning every thread into a pissing contest. Bill Belichick is responsible for the rest.
Oh I know if I hadn’t started this thread someone else would have.

I was just the first one to it.

I'd do it until more info comes out at the very least. This just serves as a distraction to camp going forward. Common sense isn't something that's being executed in this thread and that won't change anytime soon.

That fine. Feelings mutual

Today is a perfect day to do it with camp starting...

That doesn’t mean there aren’t facts that can give insight.
The thread is going because people want to cry.

Why? You don’t know why he was benched so how do you know it was wrong?
Bringing in 1 special teams snap is just bs to deflect from the point.

You’ve clearly never been part of an organization that values team, everyone working toward a goal, and principles.
We aren’t playing this guy because he yanked his preparation for the biggest game of the year, but when things aren’t going well, even though he isn’t prepared let’s just throw him in there.
That is Monday morning quarterbacking and ignorant.
